Winter Stadium ( ''Etztadion Vinter'') is a stadium in Tel Aviv District city of Ramat Gan, Israel. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of Hakoah Amidar Ramat Gan. History Jack A. and Muriel L. Winter built Winter Stadium. It is named after their sons Jack R. Winter and Michael Winter. Jack A. Winter was the founder of Jack Winter, Inc. The company began as a men's pants manufacturer in the late 1930s and in 1953 began to design women's clothing. As one of the first manufacturers of women's pants, he set trends in women's sportswear and knitwear. He and his wife Muriel were philanthropic leaders in their home city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Ramat Gan
Ramat Gan (, ) is a city in the Tel Aviv District of Israel, located east of the municipality of Tel Aviv, and is part of the Gush Dan, Gush Dan metropolitan area. It is home to a Diamond Exchange District (one of the world's major diamond exchanges), Sheba Medical Center (the largest hospital in Israel) and many high-tech industries. Ramat Gan was established in 1921 as a moshava, a communal farming settlement. In it had a population of almost 200,000. The 11th Maccabiah Games brought 3,450 athletes to Israel from 35 nations. The Opening Ceremony was held on July 7, 1981, before a crowd of 53,000 and Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin in Ramat Gan Stadium, with 3,500 Jewish athletes parading past him. Hakoah Maccabi Amidar Ramat Gan Football Club () is an Israeli football club based in Ramat Gan. The club is currently in Liga Alef South division and plays at the Winter Stadium in Ramat Shikma, a neighbourhood of Ramat Gan. History The club was established in 1959 by a merger of Hakoah Tel Aviv and Maccabi Ramat Gan. The new club was based at Maccabi's Gali Gil stadium in Ramat Gan, but largely consisted of Hakoah players. In 1962, the club was promoted to Liga Leumit, then the top division. In their first season they finished third from bottom. In 1964–65 the club won its first championship, beating Hapoel Petah Tikva to the title on goal difference. The Israeli Premier League (, Ligat HaAl, ) is a professional association football league in Israel and the highest level of the Israeli football league system. The league is contested by 14 clubs, and operates on a system of promotion and relegation with its second division Liga Leumit.
