British Darts Organisation
The British Darts Organisation (BDO) was a darts organisation founded on 7 January 1973 by Olly Croft, and dissolved in 2020 under the stewardship of Des Jacklin. Made up of 66 member counties, it oversaw professional, semi-professional and amateur darts competitions in Britain. The BDO was a founder member of the World Darts Federation in 1974. It also staged a World Professional Darts Championship from 1978 to 2020. In the early 1990s, a dispute between Olly Croft and the top darts players over the decline in TV coverage and sponsorship led to an acrimonious split in the game, with the players breaking away to form their own governing body which became the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC). Henceforth, the BDO and PDC ran their own separate tours, each with its own world championship. The BDO suffered an increasing number of problems in its later years. Many of its top players defected to the more lucrative PDC. Irregularities at the 2019 World Masters led to the BDO ...

England Darts Organisation
The England Darts Organisation was formed in 2007. Previously England Darts was administered by the British Darts Organisation (BDO); however, with the withdrawal of tobacco sponsorship, the BDO withdrew its support for England. The steering committee consisted of Peter Melton from Cambridgeshire the then existing England team manager, Vic Sexton (Sussex) the current England youth manager within the BDO Board of Directors, Ian Tilley from Lincolnshire and Colin Saunders from the Isle of Wight. Tommy Thompson Lancashire, who had 10 years earlier attempted to form an independent England, was approached to be part of the committee, but declined. In April 2007 the first England AGM took place at Canley Club in Coventry, where Tommy Thompson was elected chairman, Peter Melton international director, Vic Sexton tournament & youth directo ...

2007 World Masters (darts)
The 2007 Winmau World Masters was a darts tournament being staged by the British Darts Organisation at Leisure World in Bridlington between 16–18 November 2007. It also featured a qualifying event for the 2008 Lakeside World Professional Championship. History was made by John Walton who became the first player to hit a perfect nine-dart finish in the televised stage of the tournament. The event was broadcast by the BBC. However, the nine-darter was not shown live as it was achieved in the last 16 before their live coverage began. Michael van Gerwen was unable to defend his title, as he had decided to switch to the rival organisation, the Professional Darts Corporation - thereby making himself ineligible under the BDO's rules. Scotland's Robert Thornton surprised the field by beating Co Stompé, BDO world champion Martin Adams, Martin Atkins and Darryl Fitton to win the title and seal a qualifying place for the 2008 BDO World Championship. Controversy Controversy hit the ...
