Wind-up Records, LLC (legally known as Wind-up Entertainment Inc. until 2004) was an American record label founded by Alan and Diana Meltzer in 1997. It was based in New York City and was distributed by BMG Distribution. Wind-up's best-selling artists worldwide were Creed and Evanescence. History Wind-up Records was formed in 1997 by Alan Meltzer, former owner of CD One Stop, and his wife Diana Meltzer, following their 1996 purchase of Grass Records. The parent company Wind-up Entertainment also runs numerous publishing companies as well as a full-scale retail, online and tour merchandising company. The company's slogan was "Developing Career Artists". Some of the successful acts on the label included Evanescence, Creed, Seether and Finger Eleven. Commander Venus
Commander Venus was an American emo band from Omaha, Nebraska. Fronted by Conor Oberst and Tim Kasher, the band also included Todd Fink and Matt Bowen of The Faint, Ben Armstrong of Head of Femur and Robb Nansel, executive producer of the indie label Saddle Creek. Kasher subsequently went on to front the band Cursive, and Oberst later became famous as the core member of the indie folk collective Bright Eyes, and later the punk band Desaparecidos. They recorded two albums, '' Do You Feel at Home?'' on Saddle Creek and ''The Uneventful Vacation'', on Grass Records, which became Wind-up Records, that ultimately licensed the CD to Thick Records. Aranda (band)
Aranda is an American rock band from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The band is composed of Dameon and Gabe Aranda. Their latest album Recollections Of A Painted Year was released on July 29, 2022 through The Fuel Music. History Self-titled debut album (2001–2010) Dameon and Gabe Aranda have been creating music since an early age. The band became Aranda in 2001 and signed to Epic Records after years of playing locally in Oklahoma City with various groups under various names such as "Image" and "Freewill" in the 1990s. After recording an album for Epic, they were let go from the label following a massive structural overhaul. Original drummer Armando Lopez left the band in 2003 to join No Justice. Genevieve Schatz (born April 1, 1987), better known mononymously as Genevieve, is an American indie pop singer and songwriter from Elgin, Illinois, United States. Schatz is the frontwoman of Chicago indie rock band Company of Thieves and embarked on her solo career as Genevieve in early 2014. Her first solo track, "Show Your Colors", premiered on Vice Noisey in December 2014. Her debut EP ''Show Your Colors'' was released on March 10, 2015, via Wind-up Records. Speak (stylized SPEAK) was a synth-pop band from Austin, Texas formed in 2008. The band consisted of Troupe Gammage (keyboard and lead vocals), Nick Hurt (guitar and vocals), Joey Delahoussaye (bass and vocals), and Jake Stewart (drums). The band released their debut single ''Carrie'' in 2011, and their debut album I Believe In Everything in late 2011. Filter (band)
Filter is an American rock music, rock band formed in 1993 in Cleveland, Ohio, by singer Richard Patrick, along with guitarist and programmer Brian Liesegang. The band was formed when Patrick desired to start his own band after leaving Nine Inch Nails as their touring guitarist. Their debut album, ''Short Bus (album), Short Bus'' (1995) received RIAA certification, platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), supported by the single "Hey Man Nice Shot." After the album, the band would go through the first of many lineup changes, leaving Patrick as the only consistent member across all releases. Crobot
Crobot is an American hard rock band from Pottsville, Pennsylvania, composed of Brandon Yeagley, Chris Bishop, Dan Ryan and Pat Seals. Formed in 2011, the band has released five studio albums. History Beginnings In mid-2011, Brandon Yeagley and Chris Bishop created Crobot, joined later by brothers Paul and Jake Figueroa, who previously performed similar styles of music in another band. Vladimir John Ondrasik III (born January 7, 1965), also known by his stage name Five for Fighting, is an American singer-songwriter and pianist. He is best known for his piano-based soft rock, such as the top 40 hits " Superman (It's Not Easy)" (2001), "100 Years" (2003), and " The Riddle" (2006). He also had a string of moderate hits on the adult contemporary charts in the late 2000s and into the 2010s, including "World" (2006) and " Chances" (2009). Ondrasik has recorded six studio albums, one EP, and several live albums as Five for Fighting. Ondrasik's song "Superman" was nominated for a Grammy in 2002. The Revivalists are an American rock band formed in New Orleans, Louisiana, in 2007. The Virginmarys are an English rock duo from Macclesfield, England. The band formed in 2006 as a trio and self-released a limited series of sold-out EPs before releasing their debut album, '' King of Conflict,'' on DoubleCross/Cooking Vinyl and Wind Up Records (US) in February 2013.
