Winchester 400
The Winchester 400 is a 400-lap short-track super late model stock car racing, stock car race held each fall at the Winchester Speedway, a half-mile long paved oval motor racetrack in Winchester, Indiana, Winchester, Indiana, United States. Held annually since 1970, the Winchester 400 started off as an American Speed Association event. Later it became part of the NASCAR Southeast Series from 1992 to 1998. It returned to the ASA National Tour from 2000 to 2002. The event is sanctioned by the ARCA/CRA Super Series since 2003, and in 2023 it will be co-sanctioned by the new ASA STARS National Tour. Billed as the "World's Fastest 1/2 mile", Winchester's 37 degree banking are some of the steepest in motorsports and the reason for the high speeds. Scot Walters (born November 18, 1967) is an American stock car racing driver from Cornelius, North Carolina. He competed in NASCAR from 1997 to 1999 in the Craftsman Truck Series, as well as one Busch Series race in 1998. NASCAR career Walters, born on November 18, 1967, in Cornelius, North Carolina, began his NASCAR career at Louisville Motor Speedway during the 1997 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season. Mike Cope
Mike Cope (born May 8, 1962) is an American former stock car racing driver. A two-time champion of the NASCAR Slim Jim All Pro Series, he also competed in the NASCAR Busch Series and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. He is no relation to Daytona 500 winner Derrike Cope. Early career Mike began his NASCAR career in 1989, competing in the Slim Jim All Pro Series, a regional touring series centered on the southeastern United States. He won two series championships, in 1994 and 1996, as well as being voted Most Popular Driver three times. In addition he won the prestigious Winchester 400 three years in a row, from 1993 to 1995. Mike Garvey
Michael Garvey (born September 13, 1962) is an American professional stock car racing driver who currently works as a crew chief in the NASCAR Xfinity Series for DGM Racing's No. 90 Chevrolet Camaro. As a driver, he competed in NASCAR and the American Speed Association. NASCAR career Garvey has participated in races in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, Busch Series, and NEXTEL Cup since 1993. He has participated in three or less races each year except for the 1994 Busch Series and the 2005 NEXTEL Cup Series driving the No. 66 Ford. Tim Steele (racing Driver)
Tim Steele (March 1, 1968 – January 7, 2024) was an American stock car racing driver. He won three ARCA Re/Max Series national championships and raced in NASCAR's highest three series. He was inducted in the Michigan Motor Sports Hall of Fame in 2009. Background Steele was born in Coopersville, Michigan on March 1, 1968, and began racing as a 5-year-old in motorcycle ice racing. He finished second in Michigan's 125cc AMA motocross division. In 1984, the 16-year-old won the NAMRA Champ Cars division championship and was the division's Rookie of the Year; he also raced in International Jet Ski Racing events that season. He continued to move up the ladder and began racing late models at Berlin Raceway. Henry "Butch" Miller (born June 5, 1952) is an American former stock car racing driver. He is a multi-time champion in the American Speed Association stock car series. NASCAR Early career In 1985, Miller ran his first Busch Series races, driving for LeRoy Throop, driving the No. 08 MSW Spyders Pontiac in four events. He made four races, and had a 2nd-place finish at Bristol Motor Speedway. The next year, in 1986, he went to victory lane at the Indianapolis Raceway Park. That same season, he made his Winston Cup debut, finishing 16th in his first race. Richard Leroy Trickle (October 27, 1941 – May 16, 2013) was an American race car driver. He raced for decades around the short tracks of Wisconsin, winning many championships along the way. Trickle competed in the ASA, ARTGO, ARCA, All Pro, IMCA, NASCAR, and USAC. In more than an estimated 2,200 races, Trickle logged one million laps and is believed to have won over 1,200 feature races. He was billed as the winningest short track driver in history.
