Wim Hora Adema
Wim Hora Adema (14 July 1914 – 10 December 1998) was a Dutch people, Dutch author of children's literature and a feminist, notable for being the co-founder of ''Opzij'', founded in 1972 as a radical feminism, radical feminist monthly magazine. She was one of the best-known women of the Dutch Second-wave feminism, second wave of feminism. Biography Adema began her career as an unpaid worker for the ''Algemeen Handelsblad'', a Liberalism, liberal Amsterdam newspaper; in 1939, she was appointed editor for the national section. She worked there until 1941, when she resigned as a protest against the anti-Jewish measures taken at the paper. During World War II, she was active in the Dutch resistance, which brought her in contact with the group that published ''Het Parool'', an illegal resistance paper. Joke Smit
Johanna Elisabeth "Joke" Smit (27 August 1933 – 19 September 1981) was a well-known Dutch feminist and politician in the 1970s. Personal life Smit grew up in a reformed family of six children in Vianen. Her father was a teacher. She attended the Christelijk Gymnasium Utrecht and later studied French language and literature at the University of Amsterdam. She taught French at a number of schools between 1955 and 1966. In 1962, she worked a year in Paris as a freelance journalist, writing articles for the Dutch newspapers '' NRC'' and ''Het Parool''. She was then appointed editor and secretary of the editorial staff of the literary magazine Tirade. She started to work as an associate professor at the Institute for Translation of the University of Amsterdam in 1966. A year later, she became a member of the Partij van de Arbeid (Labor Party). Hella Haasse
Hélène "Hella" Serafia Haasse (2 February 1918 – 29 September 2011) was a Dutch writer, often referred to as the "Grande Dame" of Dutch literature, and whose novel '' Oeroeg'' (1948) was a staple for generations of Dutch schoolchildren. Her internationally acclaimed magnum opus is ''Heren van de Thee'', translated to ''The Tea Lords''. In 1988 Haasse was chosen to interview the Dutch Queen for her 50th birthday after which celebrated Dutch author Adriaan van Dis called Haasse "the Queen among authors". Haasse has the first Dutch digital online museum dedicated to the life and work of an author. The museum was opened in 2008 on her 90th birthday. Haasse has an asteroid named after her. Sophia Maria "Fiep" Westendorp (17 December 1916 – 3 February 2004) was a Dutch illustrator who became popular due to her long collaboration with writer Annie M.G. Schmidt with their creation of Jip and Janneke. Career Three generations of Dutch people have grown up with her illustrations. The drawings she made for ''Jip en Janneke'', a series of stories which ran in Dutch newspaper ''Het Parool'' from 1953 to 1957, now adorn a variety of items sold by Dutch department store HEMA. Since the regular Dutch awards for illustrations always eluded her, she was given a unique award for her entire oeuvre in 1997. Westendorp also drew a text comic based on the Annie M.G.
