Wilton Parish
The Parish of Wilton is a Parish (country subdivision), parish of the Camden County, New South Wales, County of Camden in New South Wales, Australia. It is located in the area around where Picton Road, New South Wales, Picton Road crosses the Hume Highway, and the area around nearby Wilton, New South Wales, Wilton. It is bounded by the Cataract River (Wollondilly), Cataract River in the east, the Nepean River in the west and north, and the Cordeaux River in the south-west. Almost the entire boundary of the parish uses rivers, except for a small area in the south-east. The parish extends as far south as Cordeaux Dam. Camden County, New South Wales
Camden County was one of the original Nineteen Counties in New South Wales and is now one of the 141 Cadastral divisions of New South Wales. It included the coastal area near Wollongong south to the Shoalhaven River, and also inland encompassing Berrima and Picton. Its western boundary was the Wollondilly River. The first settlement in the area was Camden Park, established by John Macarthur in 1806, just across the Nepean River from Cumberland County. It was the first land across the Nepean to be settled. Camden is a present-day suburb of Sydney in the same area, although parts of it are in Cumberland. Camden County is named in honour of John Pratt, 1st Marquess Camden (1759–1840). The Electoral district of Western Division of Camden and the Electoral district of Eastern Division of Camden were the first electoral districts for the area, between 1856 and 1859. Nepean River
Nepean River ( Darug: Yandhai), is a major perennial river, located in the south-west and west of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The Nepean River and its associated mouth, the Hawkesbury River, almost encircles the metropolitan region of Sydney. The headwaters of the Nepean River rise near Robertson, about south of Sydney and about from the Tasman Sea. The river flows north in an unpopulated water catchment area into Nepean Reservoir, which supplies potable water for Sydney. North of the dam, the river forms the western edge of Sydney, flowing past the town of Camden and the city of Penrith, south of which flowing through the Nepean Gorge. Cataract River (Wollondilly)
The Cataract River, a perennial river that is part of the Hawkesbury- Nepean catchment, is located in the Macarthur region of New South Wales, Australia. Course and features The Cataract River rises on the western slopes of the Illawarra escarpment, west of Mount Pleasant, and flows generally north northwest, impounded within Lake Cataract, before reaching its confluence with the Nepean River at Douglas Park. The river descends over its course. The river is a source of water for the Sydney region. Water is collected by the dams, weirs and aqueducts of the Upper Nepean Scheme. Wilton, New South Wales
Wilton is a small town of the Macarthur Region of New South Wales, Australia in the Wollondilly Shire. The town is located around 80 km south west of Sydney CBD. It is home to a population of 3080 and includes the new estate of Bingara Gorge. It is located within close proximity of Cataract Dam. Furthermore, the town is just located off Picton Road which diverges off the Hume Highway to Wollongong. Wilton has a take away, which includes pizza, and opposite thereof is a Shell service station. Hume Highway
Hume Highway, inclusive of the sections now known as Hume Freeway and Hume Motorway, is one of Australia's major inter-city national highways, running for between Melbourne in the southwest and Sydney in the northeast. Upgrading of the route from Sydney's outskirts to Melbourne's outskirts to dual carriageway was completed on 7 August 2013. Couridjah Parish, Camden
Couridjah is a small town in the Macarthur Region of New South Wales, Australia, in Wollondilly Shire. It was previously known officially as "Village of Couridjah". At the , Couridjah had a population of 303. History The name "Couridjah" has been variously reported to mean, in a local Aboriginal language, anything from "The Place of the White Ants" to "The Home of the Medicine Man". Couridjah was formerly a station on the Main Southern Railway. At the time of the line's construction, it was known as "Jones's Hut". That line was deviated in 1919 to a less steep alignment with easier grades, and the original line became the Picton-Mittagong Loop line. Thirlmere Lakes, to the west of the station, supplied water to the standpipes at Couridjah for replenishing steam locomotives, after their long haul up the steep grade from Picton.
