Wilson Park, Baltimore
Wilson Park is a small community in northeast Baltimore, Maryland and one of the first African-American communities in the city. It is bounded on the south by 43rd Street and on the east by The Alameda. Two community associations serve the area: the Kimberleigh Road Community Association and the Wilson Park Improvement Association. The homes range from large single-family homes to semi-detached and townhouses. A majority of homes are owner-occupied. Demographics According to the 2000 US Census, 1,355 people live in Wilson Park with 97.8% African-American and .7% White. The median family income is $45,208. 86% of the houses are occupied and 78.5% of those are occupied by the home's owner. Schools Wilson Park has one public K-8 school: Guilford Elementary/Middle. Okolona, Mississippi
Okolona is a city in and one of the two county seats of Chickasaw County, Mississippi, Chickasaw County, Mississippi, United States. It is located near the eastern border of the county. The population was 2,692 at the 2010 United States Census, 2010 census. It had a large furniture industry and the Wilson Park resort. History Okolona was named as Rose Hill in 1845 early in its settlement, but residents later discovered that another location had this name. When a US post office was established here in 1850, a new name was needed to avoid confusion in mail delivery. According to the Okolona Area Chamber of Commerce, Colonel Josiah N. Walton, postmaster of nearby Aberdeen, Mississippi, remembered an encounter with a Chickasaw warrior years earlier. The man's name was ''Oka-laua,'' meaning peaceful, yellow, or blue water. Wilson Botanic Garden
The Las Cruces Biological Station / Wilson Botanical Garden is located in the southern Puntarenas province of Costa Rica, and is the newest of the three research stations operated by the Organization for Tropical Studies (OTS). Las Cruces includes a biological research station, tourist facilities, and the botanical gardens started by Robert and Catherine Wilson, and bequeathed to OTS. Las Cruces is located in a mountainous region at an elevation of approximately 1,000 meters above sea level (m.a.s.l.). Maryon Wilson Park
Maryon Wilson Park is a public park in Charlton, in the Royal Borough of Greenwich in south east London. It is bounded on its northwest side by Thorntree Road; its southern-most, and highest, point is a gateway on to Charlton Park Road. Together with Maryon Park and Gilbert's Pit (which both sit to the north of Maryon Wilson Park), it is a Local Nature Reserve, and, along with nearby Charlton Park, forms part of the South East London Green Chain. History The park is a remnant of ancient forest once known as Hanging Wood (the word 'hang' comes from the Old English 'hangra', a wooded slope), reputedly a haunt of highwaymen. A road, Hanging Wood Lane (today Thorntree Road) ran across the north side of the area that later formed the park. The Wilsons Promontory National Park, commonly known as Wilsons Prom or The Prom, is a national park in the Gippsland region of Victoria, Australia, located approximately southeast of Melbourne. Wilson Botanic Park is a botanic gardens, botanic garden located on Princes Highway in Berwick, Victoria, Berwick in Victoria (Australia), Victoria, Australia. History The 100 acre (39 hectare) site was originally a blue metal quarry which was operated between 1859 and 1976 by the Wilson family who subsequently donated the land to the community. During early excavations, fossilised forest remnants were uncovered. Later studies found that these fossils indicated that the site was covered with tropical forest 22 million years old and include the earliest known Eucalyptus fossils. Wilson Woods Park
Willson's Woods Park is a park located in Mount Vernon, New York. The Park is owned by Westchester County and operated by its Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation. Acquired in 1924, Willson's Woods is one of the oldest parks in the County's parks system. The Park was named for the former owner of the land, Charles Hill Willson of the Willson & Adams Lumber Company. The park is flanked to the east by the Hutchinson River Parkway and by Pelham Lake. It was built with the northern entrance passing under the now defunct New York, Westchester and Boston Railway line, and the southern under the still working New Haven Line. Wilson-Tuscarora State Park is a state park in Niagara County, New York. The park is located on the west side of the Village of Wilson along the south shore of Lake Ontario. Lake Road ( New York State Route 18) passes through the park. History The park was formed in 1965 on what was previously a sheep farm.
