Wilmorite Properties, Inc is a commercial real estate company based in Chili, New York, a suburb of Rochester, New York. A subsidiary of the company owes significant back taxes and fees to the City of Rochester resulting from a loan and tax agreement surrounding the failed development of the Sibley Building. The company manages Eastview Mall, The Mall at Greece Ridge, The Marketplace Mall, and Pittsford Plaza, all of which are in Rochester. History James P. Wilmot founded the company in the 1940s and since then, Wilmorite has developed retail, office, hotel, and residential real estate. In 1967, Wilmorite built Greece Towne Mall (now The Mall at Greece Ridge), one of the first enclosed regional malls in New York State. Charlestowne Mall
Charlestowne Mall was a shopping mall located in St. Charles, Illinois, United States. It was the second mall to serve the city after St. Charles Mall. Built by Wilmorite Properties, Charlestowne Mall opened for business in April 1991. Its original anchor stores were Kohl's, JCPenney, Sears, and Carson's (then known as Carson Pirie Scott). Regal Cinemas added a movie theater in 1999 which was sold to Classic Cinemas two years later, while JCPenney closed in 2000 and was converted in 2001 to Von Maur. The mall began experiencing a decline in tenancy in the 21st century due to its size, its location, and the opening of Geneva Commons in Geneva, Illinois in 2002. Park Point at RIT (originally referred to as "Collegetown" or "College Park") is a commercial enterprise on the northeast corner of Rochester Institute of Technology's campus in Rochester, New York. The property was initially being leased to Wilmorite Properties, until it was bought by American Campus Communities in 2013. Park Point at RIT is a $72 million dollar project and is expected to bring in $10 million in tax revenue during the first ten years of operation. Danbury Fair (also referred to as Danbury Fair Mall) is an upscale shopping mall located in Danbury, Connecticut. As of 2011, it is the second largest shopping mall in Connecticut, as well as the fifth largest in New England. It is located off of Interstate 84 and U.S. Route 7 opposite the Danbury Municipal Airport. The mall currently features the traditional chains Macy's, JCPenney, Primark, and Dick's Sporting Goods. The Marketplace Mall
The Marketplace Mall is a shopping center managed by Wilmorite and located on Hylan Drive in Henrietta, New York, a suburb of Rochester. The space at the southeast corner of West Henrietta Road ( NY 15) and Jefferson Road ( NY 252) was previously Hylan Airport, a general aviation facility home to Ray Hylan's school of aviation. In the 1970s, Hylan moved his school to the Rochester – Monroe County Airport and worked with the Wilmot family to develop the former airfield into commercial space. The Marketplace Mall opened on October 7, 1982 as the largest mall and the first regional mall located between New York City and Cleveland. Mohawk Mall (Niskayuna, NY)
Mohawk Mall was an enclosed shopping mall in the town of Niskayuna, New York, on a parcel located at the corner of State Street and Balltown Road. It was managed by Genesee Management. It had three courts with groups of fountains and seating areas. The mall was first opened in 1970 and mostly demolished in 2000, with its last remaining section demolished in 2002. Penn-Can Mall
Penn-Can Mall was a mall in the town of Cicero, New York, north of Syracuse. It opened on March 28, 1976. It was the first enclosed mall on the north end of Syracuse, and the fourth mall to be built in the entire metropolitan area. It was constructed by the Winmar Company of Seattle, Washington, and had room for 86 stores. At the mall's inception, only 28 stores were open, but the other spaces quickly followed, followed by even more during an expansion in 1986, putting the mall's store count to 121. Via Port Rotterdam, formerly Rotterdam Square, is a shopping mall located in Rotterdam, New York, United States.
