Willmar Stingers
The Willmar Stingers are a baseball team that plays in the Northwoods League, a collegiate summer baseball league. The Stingers played their inaugural season in 2010. The team plays its home games at Baker Field at Bill Taunton Stadium. On June 3, 2010, the franchise's first ever hit and run were recorded by former Willmar Cardinal and current Cleveland Indians minor leaguer Jordan Smith. The Stingers were honored with the Northwoods League Organization of the Year Award in 2010. The Laurentian Mixed Forest Province, also known as the North Woods, is a forested ecoregion in eastern North America. Among others, this terminology has been adopted by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. Phoenix Clark Sanders (born June 5, 1995) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Baltimore Orioles organization. He made his MLB debut in 2022 for the Tampa Bay Rays. Steven Joseph Brault (born April 29, 1992) is an American professional baseball outfielder and former pitcher for the Spire City Ghost Hounds of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. He has played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Chicago Cubs. Amateur career Brault grew up as a fan of the San Diego Padres.
