William De Skipwith
William de Skipwith (died after 1392) was a fourteenth-century English judge, who also served as a judge in Ireland. He held the office of Chief Baron of the Exchequer 1362-5. He suffered temporary disgrace when he was removed from office for corruption, but he was restored to favour, became Lord Chief Justice of Ireland 1370-2, and later returned to the English bench. He appears to have been the only High Court judge to have escaped impeachment by the English Parliament of 1388. Family He was the younger son of William de Skipwith and Margaret Fitzsimon. William Skipwith (died 1547)
Sir William Skipwith (1487 – 7 July 1547), was an English politician. He was the eldest son of Sir John Skipwith (born 1441) of South Ormsby, and his wife Catherine (born 1450). He succeeded his father in 1518 and was knighted in 1533 or 1534. Through his mother Catherine, he was a first cousin of William FitzWilliam, 1st Earl of Southampton. William de Skipwith, Lord Chief Justice of Ireland in the fourteenth century, was his ancestor. He was a Justice of the Peace (JP) for Lindsey from 1520 to his death and appointed High sheriff of Lincolnshire for 1526–1527. He was a Member (MP) of the Parliament of England for Lincolnshire in 1529 and 1539. He married twice: * firstly Elizabeth, the daughter of Sir William Tyrwhitt of Kettleby, Lincolnshire with whom he had a son; and * secondly Alice, the daughter and coheiress of Sir Lionel Dymoke of Mareham-on-thy-Hill, Lincolnshire, with whom he had a further four sons, including Henry Skipwith (died 1588), and seven daughters, i ... William Skipwith (died 1586)
Sir William Skipwith (by 1510 – 17 October 1586) was an English politician. He was born the eldest son of Sir William Skipwith and his first wife Elizabeth Tyrwhitt. He was admitted in 1527 to study law at Grays Inn. Skipwith married Elizabeth Page, the daughter of Sir Richard Page of Beechwood, Hertfordshire, and Elizabeth Bourchier, by whom he had a son and five daughters. He succeeded his father in 1547 and was knighted later the same year. He was elected a Member of Parliament (MP) to represent Lincolnshire in 1547. He was appointed High sheriff of Lincolnshire for 1552–53 and 1563–64 and Justice of the Peace (JP) for Lindsey from 1554 to 1572. He died on 17 October 1586 at Hanby, Lincolnshire, and was buried at South Ormsby.
