William D. Oswald
William Duncan Oswald (born 1936) was a counselor to A. Roger Merrill in the Sunday School General Presidency of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) from 2004 to 2009. Oswald was also a counselor in the same organization to Russell M. Nelson in 1978 and 1979. Oswald was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. He served as an LDS Church missionary in England and Scotland. Oswald obtained a law degree from the University of Utah and worked as an attorney in Salt Lake City. He was involved in rewriting Utah laws related to those applicable to redevelopments. His firm, Oswald and Feil, is part of the Utah Redevelopment Association. Oswald helped to draft Utah's Redevelopment Authority Law in 1969 and as of 1991 was a vocal defender of its use in practice. Sunday School (LDS Church)
Sunday School (formerly the Deseret Sunday School Union) is an organization of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). All members of the church and any interested nonmembers, age 11 and older, are encouraged to participate in Sunday School. A lottery is a form of gambling that involves the drawing of numbers at random for a prize. Some governments outlaw lotteries, while others endorse it to the extent of organizing a national or state lottery. It is common to find some degree of regulation of lottery by governments. The most common regulation is prohibition of sale to minors, and vendors must be licensed to sell lottery tickets. ''Liahona'' (formerly ''Tambuli'' in the English-language version) is an official magazine of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). It is named after the word liahona from the Book of Mormon. The magazine began publication in 1977. Prior to 2021, the magazine consisted of articles for children, youth, and adults, all of which were published concurrently in the church's English-language '' Ensign'', '' New Era'', and '' Friend'' magazines. Until the April 1995 edition, the English-language version of the magazine was called ''Tambuli''; other language versions of the magazine had different titles.
