William Alland
William Alland (March 4, 1916 – November 11, 1997) was an American actor, film producer and writer, mainly of Western and science-fiction/monster films, including '' This Island Earth'', ''It Came From Outer Space'', '' Tarantula!'', '' The Deadly Mantis'', '' The Mole People'', '' The Colossus of New York'', '' The Space Children'', and the three ''Creature from the Black Lagoon'' films. He worked frequently with director Jack Arnold. Delmar is a town in Sussex County, Delaware, United States, on the Maryland border along the Transpeninsular Line. Its motto is "The Little Town Too Big for One State." Wells's novel ''The War of the Worlds'' (1898) that was performed and broadcast live at 8 pm ET on October 30, 1938, over the CBS Radio Network. The episode is infamous for inciting a panic by convincing some members of the listening audience that a Martian invasion was taking place, though the scale of panic is disputed, as the program had relatively few listeners.
