Willem Van Der Velden
Willem van der Velden (22 April 1942 - 27 October 2013) was a Dutch politician who served as a member of the House of Representatives from 2002 to 2003. Van der Velden was chairman of the Dutch motorists' organization ''Pro Auto.'' From 2002 to 2003, he was a member of the House of Representatives on behalf of the Pim Fortuyn List. In parliament, he focused on matters related to Transport, Public Works and Water Management, Antillean Affairs and Finance. In 2006 he became a member of The Hague City Council for the LPF. When the LPF was disbanded in 2008, he continued as an independent councillor. In 2006, he was a candidate for the House of Representatives for Party for the Netherlands which had been founded by former LPF politician Hilbrand Nawijn and served as secretary of the party, but was not elected. House Of Representatives (Netherlands)
The House of Representatives (, pronounced ; commonly referred to as the ', literally "Second Chamber of the States General") is the lower house of the bicameral parliament of the Netherlands, the States General, the other one being the Senate. It has 150 seats, which are filled through elections using party-list proportional representation. Generally, the house is located in the Binnenhof in The Hague, however, it has temporarily moved to the former building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at Bezuidenhoutseweg 67 in the Hague while the Binnenhof is being renovated. Democrats 66 (; abbreviated D66, ) is a social liberal political party in the Netherlands, which positions itself in the centre of the political spectrum. It is a member of the Liberal International (LI) and the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE). The name of the party refers to its year of foundation, 1966. Initially, its main objective had been to democratise the Dutch political system, but it developed a broader social liberal ideology over time. Trots op Nederland (TON, short: Trots; English: "Proud of the Netherlands") is a political party in the Netherlands. It was founded by Rita Verdonk, an independent member of the House of Representatives, previously a member of the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD). A subsequent poll by Maurice De Hond indicated that Trots op Nederland and the Labour Party would be tied for second place with 22 seats each in the Dutch Parliament which counts 150 seats. Hilbrand Nawijn
Hilbrand Pier Anne Nawijn (born 8 August 1948) is a Dutch lawyer and politician of the local political party Lijst Hilbrand Nawijn (LHN) in Zoetermeer. From 2002 to 2004, he served as a Member of the House of Representatives for the Pim Fortuyn List party and from 2006 for the Party for the Netherlands. During his time in parliament, Nawijn was Minister for Integration and Asylum Affairs in the first cabinet of Jan Peter Balkenende. Early life Nawijn was born in Kampen. The son of a burgemeester (mayor), he is a descendant of Firmin Navin, a French Huguenot who had fled to Holland in 1696 to escape persecution. Maria Cornelia Frederika "Rita" Verdonk (born 18 October 1955) is a retired Dutch politician of the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD) and later founder of the Proud of the Netherlands (Trots) party and businesswoman. Verdonk attended a Gymnasium in Utrecht from June 1968 until June 1974 and applied at the Radboud University Nijmegen in June 1974 majoring in Law before switching to Criminology and obtaining a Bachelor of Criminal Justice degree in July 1979 before graduating with a Master of Criminal Justice degree in July 1983.
