Willem Slijkhuis
Willem Frederik "Wim" Slijkhuis (13 January 1923 – 28 June 2003) was a Dutch athlete. During his career that lasted from 1939 to 1954 he was a world's top middle distance runner, excelling in distances from 1500 to 5000 metres. Biography Slijkhuis began his international sports career shortly after World War II, having competed nationally since 1939. Nico Lutkeveld
Nicolaas Bernardus "Nico" Lutkeveld (9 September 1916 – 14 December 1997) was a Dutch javelin thrower. He competed at the 1948 Summer Olympics and finished in 16th place. He was eights at the 1946 and 1950 European Athletics Championships. He was a national champion in 1938–1940, 1942, 1943, 1946–1951, 1953 and 1954. In 1935 he became the first Dutch athlete to cross the 60 m barrier, and by 1939 he raised the national record to 67.12 m. World records in athletics are ratified by World Athletics. Athletics records comprise the best performances in the sports of track and field, road running and racewalking. Records are kept for all events contested at the Olympic Games and some others. Unofficial records for some other events are kept by track and field statisticians. The only non-metric track distance for which official records are kept is the mile run. Criteria The criteria which must be satisfied for ratification of a world record are defined by World Athletics in Part III of the Competition Rules. Fanny Blankers-Koen
Francina Elsje "Fanny" Blankers-Koen (; 26 April 191825 January 2004) was a Dutch track and field athlete, best known for winning four gold medals at the 1948 Summer Olympics in London. She competed there as a 30-year-old mother of two, earning her the nickname "the Flying Housewife", and was the most successful athlete at the event. Having started competing in athletics in 1935, she took part in the 1936 Summer Olympics a year later. Although international competition was stopped by World War II, Blankers-Koen set several world records during that period, in events as diverse as the long jump, the high jump, and sprint (running), sprint and hurdling events. Apart from her four Olympic titles, she won five European Athletics Championships, European titles and 58 Dutch championships, and set or tied 12 world records – the last, in the pentathlon, in 1951 aged 33.
