Will Rawls
Will Rawls is an American contemporary choreographer, performance artist, curator and writer based in New York City and with continuing projects in Europe. He has choreographed solo works and group works as well as danced professionally with established dance companies. He is also one half of the performance art collaborative, Dance Gang, with Kennis Hawkins. In 2017, Rawls collaborated with poet and writer Claudia Rankine on ''What Remains''. Rawls and Rankine began to generate ''What Remains'' together after being recommended as collaborators by a mutual friend. Rawls entered the studio with two of Rankine's works – 2004's ''Don't Let Me Be Lonely'' and 2014's ''Citizen.'' The work included four performers: Tara Aisha Willis, Jessica Pretty, Leslie Cuyjet, and Jeremy Toussaint-Baptiste. Toussaint-Baptiste was also sound designer for ''What Remains.'' Dance Theater Workshop, colloquially known as DTW, was a New York City performance space and service organization for dance companies that operated from 1965 to 2011. Performa (performance Festival)
Performa is a non-profit arts organization well-known for the Performa Biennial, a festival of performance art that happens every two year in various venues and institutions in New York City. Performa was founded in 2004 by art historian and curator RoseLee Goldberg. Since 2005, Performa curators have included Charles Aubin, Defne Ayas, Tairone Bastien, Mark Beasley, Adrienne Edwards, Laura McLean-Ferris, Kathy Noble, Job Piston, and Lana Wilson. McCarren Pool
McCarren Park is a public park in Brooklyn, New York City. It is located on the border of Williamsburg and Greenpoint and is bordered by Nassau Avenue, Bayard Street, Lorimer Street and North 12th Street. The park contains facilities for recreational softball, volleyball, soccer, handball, and other games. It is also used for sunbathing and dog-walking.
