WilkinsonEyre is an international architecture practice based in London, England. In 1983 Chris Wilkinson (architect), Chris Wilkinson founded Chris Wilkinson Architects, he partnered with Jim Eyre (architect), Jim Eyre in 1987 and the practice was renamed WilkinsonEyre in 1999. The practice has led the completion of many high-profile projects such as Gateshead Millennium Bridge, Cooled Conservatories Gardens by the Bay, Oxford's Weston Library and Guangzhou International Finance Center. Lille Langebro
Lille Langebro () is a walking and cycling bridge across the Inner Harbour in Copenhagen, Denmark. It is located close to and named after the larger Langebro bridge. It was designed by WilkinsonEyre and Urban Agency and it is classified as a double-swing bridge. The unique visual elements include the twisted and curved design. Design There was a competition for the commission to build the Lille Langebro bridge and it was awarded to WilkinsonEyre and Urban Agency in 2015. WilkinsonEyre and Urban Agency's design includes lighting which is hidden in the handrail: the effect is to make the bridge look like a twisted ribbon when it is lit up after dark. The bridge was designed for bicycles and pedestrians. It is long and wide. The bridge is classified as a double-swing bridge based on its sectional design and ability to swing open. Dyson Institute Village
Dyson Institute Village was built in 2019 on the outskirts of Malmesbury, Wiltshire, England, to provide on-campus student housing for the Dyson Institute of Engineering and Technology. The village was designed as a number of stacked studio apartment modules by London architects WilkinsonEyre, and modelled after Montreal's Habitat 67. The pods are constructed from cross-laminated timber (CLT) and each pod is wrapped in aluminium. A feature of the modular system is that each pod is connected to the others with only four bolts. Design The pods which make up the village were designed for fast construction. Each pod was made from cross-laminated timber, and they were prefabricated. The outside of each pod is wrapped in aluminium. The units were manufactured in Scotland complete with furniture and electrical fittings, and then delivered to Hullavington Airfield (a nearby Dyson site) to be completed. Chris Wilkinson (architect)
Christopher John Wilkinson (1 July 1945 – 14 December 2021) was a British architect and co-founder of the architecture firm WilkinsonEyre. He was known for his techno-centric designs and execution of projects ranging from office spaces, factory floors, skyscrapers to botanical gardens. Some of his projects included the Magna Science Adventure Centre, Gateshead Millennium Bridge, Guangzhou International Finance Center, and the Gardens by the Bay in Singapore. Wilkinson was elected a member of the Royal Academy of Arts in 2006, and was awarded an Order of the British Empire, OBE in the 2000 New Year Honours, Millennium Honours List for his contributions to architecture. 10 Brock Street is a contemporary sixteen story office building designed by WilkinsonEyre and in London, England, The building is part of a development called Regent's Place which is made up of eight buildings. The development was commissioned by British Land. The unique visual elements include geometric angled planes, luminescent facades and angled roofline. Design The building has three different sections which produce three different roof lines. Each section appears to be a separate building. together and separate they take on a crystalline appearance. Gateshead Millennium Bridge
The Gateshead Millennium Bridge is a pedestrian and cyclist tilt bridge spanning the River Tyne between Gateshead arts quarter on the south bank and Newcastle upon Tyne's Quayside area on the north bank. It was the first tilting bridge ever to be constructed. Opened for public use in 2001, the award-winning structure was conceived and designed by architectural practice WilkinsonEyre and structural engineering firm Gifford. Crown Sydney (also referred to by its street address of One Barangaroo and informally known as Packer’s Pecker) is a skyscraper in Barangaroo, New South Wales, Australia. Splashpoint Leisure Centre
Splashpoint Leisure Centre is a leisure centre located in the centre of Worthing, West Sussex, England. It contains a 25-metre long pool and gymnasium. Designed by WilkinsonEyre it won an award at the World Architecture Festival in 2013. WilkinsonEyre won an architectural design competition held by the Royal Institute of British Architects, which attracted 109 expressions of interest. It was opened by Paralympian swimmer Ellie Simmonds on 20 June 2013. Location Splashpoint Leisure Centre lies between Brighton Road to the north and the town's beach and promenade to the south. Guangzhou International Finance Centre
Guangzhou International Finance Center or Guangzhou West Tower, is a 103- story, skyscraper at Zhujiang Avenue West in the Tianhe District of Guangzhou, Guangdong. One half of the Guangzhou Twin Towers, it is the 24th tallest building in the world, completed in 2010. As of 2023, it is the world's tallest building with a rooftop helipad, at 438 m high. The world's second-tallest building with a rooftop helipad was also completed in 2010: Beijing's China World Trade Center Tower III, whose roof-top helipad is 330 m high. Both buildings are taller than the U.S. Bank Tower, the previous record-holder from 1989 to 2010, whose roof-top helipad is high. Jim Eyre OBE is a British architect and director of WilkinsonEyre, where he has been a partner/director since 1987. Eyre has worked on a broad range of projects in the past three decades, from transportation and infrastructure to an increasing amount of cultural projects. Those projects include thMuseum of London Medicine Galleries Royal Botanic Gardens Kew, the Cooled Conservatories at Gardens by the Bay, and the Weston Library, Oxford. Eyre's commercial and infrastructure work includes projects such as the redevelopment of Battersea Power Station, Guangzhou International Finance Center, and the award-winning Stratford Market Depot and Stratford Regional station. The complex, located on Bay Street south of Front Street, is a joint development between Ivanhoé Cambridge and Hines. One Queensbridge (or Crown Queensbridge) was a proposed mixed–used supertall skyscraper to be located in the Southbank precinct of Melbourne, Australia. The skyscraper would have become the tallest building in Melbourne, surpassing the height of Australia 108, and the tallest building in Australia, eclipsing the height of Q1. Forthside Bridge
Forthside Bridge (often referred to as Spiky Bridge) is a large pedestrian bridge located in the city of Stirling, in the Central Belt of Scotland. Opened on 2 May 2009, the bridge crosses Stirling railway station, a busy interchange station located on the former Caledonian Main Line and connects the city centre with the Forthside Development, a £90 million residential and leisure area on the banks of the River Forth.
