''Wiadomości'' (, ) is a Polish daily television news program that was produced by public-service broadcaster Telewizja Polska (TVP) and was broadcast on TVP1 from 18 November 1989 until 19 December 2023. The main edition was broadcast daily at 7:30p.m. CET. It premiered on 18 November 1989 and replaced the '' Dziennik Telewizyjny'' (), which was aired during the communist era for over 31 years and was considered to be one of the communist government's mouthpiece. In September 2020, ''Wiadomości'' was the most popular news program in Poland, with an average of 2.66 million viewers a day. In its final years, especially during the Law and Justice (PiS) government (2015–2023), the program (along with TVP's other news outlets) was accused of becoming a propaganda outlet for the ruling party. 2023 Takeover Of TVP
On December 19, 2023, Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz, the Minister of Culture and National Heritage in Poland, dismissed the then-current state media directors and their supervisory boards, most notably those of public broadcaster Telewizja Polska (TVP), appointing new ones in their place. The move was met with criticism and accusations of illegality by the dismissed management and the opposition Law and Justice (PiS) party, causing a parliamentary intervention in the TVP headquarters. ''Dziennik Telewizyjny'' (, DT; ), commonly simplified to ''Dziennik'' (), is a Polish daily television news program that was produced and broadcast by Telewizja Polska (TP; now abbreviated as TVP) between 1958 and 1989, during the time Poland was under communist dictatorship. It was Poland's second regularly televised newscast by the Polish United Workers' Party during the Cold War. The final telecast aired on 17 November 1989 and the program was replaced by ''Wiadomości'' on the following day, 18 November 1989. ''Dziennik'' succeeded a previously run short-term news show on 1 January 1958. Law and Justice ( , PiS) is a right-wing populist and national-conservative political party in Poland. The party is a member of European Conservatives and Reformists Group. October 15 Coalition
The 15 October Coalition () has been the ruling government of Poland since 13 December 2023. It is a big tent coalition that includes various political parties. The coalition was formed after the parliamentary election held on 15 October. ''Panorama'' is the main late night news program on TVP Info. The main edition is broadcast at 21:45 every day and side edition is broadcast at 18:00. The program was created in 1987 as Panorama Dnia, during Poland's communist rule. In 1991, Panorama Dnia was changed into Panorama.
