Chris Thomas (record Producer)
Christopher P. Thomas (born 13 January 1947 in Perivale, Middlesex, England) is an English record producer who has worked extensively with the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Procol Harum, Roxy Music, Badfinger, Elton John, Paul McCartney, Pete Townshend, Pulp and the Pretenders. He has also produced breakthrough albums for the Sex Pistols, the Climax Blues Band, the Pretenders and INXS. Early life Thomas was classically trained on the violin and piano as a child and he began playing bass in London pop bands, turning down at one point the opportunity to play with Jimi Hendrix and Mitch Mitchell before Hendrix had struck fame. After several years, Thomas decided that he had little interest in making a career as a performing musician. In a 1998 interview, he stated "I realized that being in a band you were dependent on all these other people, and I also knew that if I'd ever been successful in a band, I would've wanted to stay in the studio and just make the records; I wasn't that interes ...

Passengers (Elton John Song)
Passengers is a 1984 song by English musician Elton John that appears on his 1984 album ''Breaking Hearts,'' released as the second single of the album. The song reached number five on the UK chart, and reached the top ten in Australia, but was not released as a single in the US. The song was included on his 1990 UK release ''The Very Best of Elton John'', but has not been included on any compilation since. Background It was composed by John, Bernie Taupin and Davey Johnstone. The music for the song was largely based on a South African folk tune called 'Isonto Lezayoni', which was recorded in 1963 by Phineas Mkhize. The whistle riff and chorus melody are borrowed from this piece, and Mkhize is given a songwriting credit for the song on this basis. It has been suggested that Taupin's lyric has an anti-apartheid message behind it. Live performances John performed the song live during his 1985 tour of the UK, with a slightly re-arranged version of the track, making use of the bra ...

Greatest Hits 1976–1986
''Greatest Hits 1976–1986'' is a collection of hits by Elton John released in the United States only by Music Corporation of America, MCA Records in 1992. It replaced an earlier compilation, Geffen's 1987 release ''Elton John's Greatest Hits Vol. 3''. This was necessitated because of a shift in the control of copyrights and a resulting reshuffling of compilation albums. Background Ultimate ownership of Elton John's recordings had always rested with the artist's British labels. Hence DJM Records, DJM/This Record Company Ltd. owned all of John's recorded output up to and including 1976's Here and There (Elton John album), ''Here and There'' while John's own royalty collection company (alternately called "Sackville" and "Happenstance") owned the recordings from 1976's "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" single and ''Blue Moves'' album onwards, which were released outside North America by The Rocket Record Company. However, in the United States and Canada, this was obscured by the labels ...
