Whitechapel (band)
Whitechapel is an American deathcore band from Knoxville, Tennessee. The band is named after the Whitechapel district in east London, England, where Jack the Ripper committed a Whitechapel murders, series of murders. The group comprises vocalist Phil Bozeman, guitarists Ben Savage, Alex Wade, and Zach Householder, bassist Gabe Crisp and drummer Brandon Zackey. Their core lineup, with the exception of the drummer, has remained consistent since Householder replaced original guitarist Brandon Cagle in 2007. Founded in 2006 by Bozeman and Savage, the band has released nine studio albums and twenty-two music videos, and is currently signed to Metal Blade Records. Whitechapel's 2010 album ''A New Era of Corruption'', sold around 10,600 copies in the United States in its first week of release and debuted at position No. 43 on the Billboard 200, ''Billboard'' 200 chart. ''Our Endless War'' is the fifth studio album by American deathcore band Whitechapel. It was released on April 29, 2014, via Metal Blade. The song "The Saw Is the Law" was released on February 26, 2014, as the first single off the album. On April 15, 2014, a lyric video for the song "Our Endless War" was released. Reception The album received generally positive reviews from critics. It debuted on Billboard 200 at No. 10, No. 2 on Top Rock Albums, and No. 1 on the Hard Rock Albums chart, selling 16,270 copies in its first week. The album has sold 45,000 copies in the United States as of June 2016. It remains the band's highest-charting album. ''This Is Exile'' is the second studio album by American deathcore band Whitechapel. It was produced by Jonny Fay and the band itself and was released on July 8, 2008 through Metal Blade Records. This is the band's first album to feature guitarist Zach Householder. Release and background Upon the release of the record, its sales reached 5,900 in copies, which had it enter the Billboard Top 200 chart at position 118. Three music videos for songs from the album were released. The video for "This Is Exile" was released on June 18, 2008. The music video for "Possession" was released on November 18, 2008 and shown on MTV2's ''Headbangers Ball''. The music video for "Eternal Refuge" was released on June 8, 2009. ''The Somatic Defilement'' is the debut studio album by American deathcore band Whitechapel. The album was released on July 31, 2007, through Candlelight Records and is their only release through this label before their move to Metal Blade the following year. It is the only album to feature guitarist Brandon Cagle. Overview ''The Somatic Defilement'' is mostly a concept album based on Jack the Ripper, in which the majority of the songs are first-person narratives of the slaughter and rape of prostitutes. Only two songs are exceptions to this theme: vocalist Phil Bozeman specified that "Alone in the Morgue" is about "a coroner who is a demented necrophiliac" and "Festering Fiesta" is about Jeffrey Dahmer. The intro track, "Necrotizing" also contains excerpts from a Stone Phillips interview with Dahmer. The album is the only one by Whitechapel to include Brandon Cagle as guitarist.
