Westmount
Westmount () is a city on the Island of Montreal, in southwestern Quebec, Canada. It is an enclave of the city of Montreal, with a population of 19,658 as of the 2021 Canadian census. Westmount is home to schools, an arena, a pool, a public library and a number of parks, including Westmount Park, King George Park (also known as Murray Hill Park) and Westmount Summit. The city operates its own electricity distribution company Westmount Light & Power (Hydro-Westmount). The city is also the location of two Canadian Forces Primary Reserve units: The Royal Montreal Regiment and 34th Signals Regiment. Traditionally, the community of Westmount has been a wealthy and predominantly anglophone enclave, having been at one point the richest community in Canada. Westmount Summit
Westmount Summit () is one of the three peaks of Mount Royal (along with Mount Royal proper and Outremont) located in the City of Westmount, Quebec, Westmount, Quebec, Canada. Part of the geographical summit is located adjacent to the Montreal borough of Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce. The highest point is approximately above sea-level, surrounded by a larger plateau of relatively level terrain before giving way to steeper slopes on all sides. Westmount Park
Westmount Park () is a public park in Westmount, Quebec, Canada. It is located on Sherbrooke Street West. History In 1892, the city of Westmount purchased of land for a park in order to preserve its rustic appearance. A few years later, the park was expanded its boundaries from Sherbrooke Street to Western Avenue (today De Maisonneuve Boulevard). Since its expansion, it has occupied of land. In 1899, Quebec's first public library (Victoria Hall) was built in the park. In 1912, J. Howard Manning landscaped the park on behalf of the city. The park's design was inspired by the work of Frederick Law Olmsted, the landscape architect of Mount Royal. The park was designed around existing natural streams, ravines and wooded areas. Flowerbeds were planted and a bandstand was constructed. In 1964, the park was renovated by the firm McFadzean & Everly. Westmount–Saint-Louis is a provincial electoral district in the Montreal region of Quebec, Canada that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. It comprises the city of Westmount as well as parts of the Le Plateau-Mont-Royal and Ville-Marie boroughs of Montreal, including most of downtown. It was created for the 1994 election from parts of Saint-Louis, Westmount and Sainte-Anne electoral districts.
