Westkust
Westkust was a Swedish rock music, rock band from Gothenburg, Sweden. Formed in 2010, the band originally consisted of Julia Bjernelind (vocals), Brian Cukrowski (guitar), Philip Söderlind (drums) and Rikard Hjort (bass) before being joined by Makthaverskan members Gustav Andersson (guitar/vocals) and Hugo Randulv (bass/guitar) the following year. The band put out two albums: ''Last Forever'' (2015) and ''Westkust'' (2019), undergoing significant lineup changes in between as Hjort, Andersson and Randulv all departed. On 7 January 2023, Westkust announced its breakup on Facebook. History Westkust began in 2010 without a consistent lineup or sound. In 2011, the band added Hugo Randulv and Gustav Andersson of the post-punk band Makthaverskan and finalized their lineup. They released their first EP, titled ''Junk EP'' in 2012 via Luxury. Run for Cover Records is an American independent record label based in Boston, Massachusetts. Founded in 2004 by Jeff Casazza at the age of 17 with a $1,000 loan, the label functioned as a small one-person bedroom operation in Brighton, until Casazza graduated Suffolk University in 2010. Known for working with undiscovered young bands from all over the world, RFC can be credited for helping launch the careers of Tigers Jaw, Modern Baseball, Title Fight, Citizen, Turnover, Pinegrove, Basement, and many more, as well as working with already notable acts like Alex G, Camp Cope, mewithoutYou, Teen Suicide, and Nothing. Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Dream pop (also typeset as dreampop) is a subgenre of alternative rock and neo-psychedelia that emphasizes atmosphere and sonic texture as much as pop melody. Makthaverskan
Makthaverskan are a Swedish post-punk band from Gothenburg, formed in 2008. Led by vocalist Maja Milner, the band combines post-punk with elements of dream pop, jangle pop, gothic rock and shoegaze. History Makthaverskan began in 2008 with the release of both a mini CD with a collection of demos and their debut self-titled album, released by Luxury Records. According to vocalist Maja Milner, the name Makthaverskan refers to the female version of the Swedish word ''makthavare'', which refers to a powerful male. The name came from a friend of band member Hugo Randulv, and Milner said "it describes Irma and me pretty well, since we both take charge and are powerful." Milner was 16 when the band formed and Makthaverskan quickly ascended the Swedish festival circuit.
