Western Reserve Conference
The Western Reserve Conference is an OHSAA athletics conference that began with the 2015-16 school year. The name is resurrected from three previous incarnations that most recently folded in 2007 when the Northeast Ohio Conference was created. Members (2015-) History The conference is named after the Connecticut Western Reserve, which historically included most of Northeast Ohio. There have been three previous athletic conferences in the region that used the name "Western Reserve". The first existed from 1919 to 1948, a second was formed in 1948 and existed until 1968, and a third conference was founded in 1996 and functioned until 2007. Ohio High School Athletic Association
The Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) is the governing body of athletic programs for junior and senior high schools in the state of Ohio. The OHSAA governs eligibility of student athletes, resolves disputes, organizes levels of competition by divisional separation of schools according to attendance population, and conducts state championship competitions in all the OHSAA-sanctioned sports. Membership There are approximately 820 member high schools and 850 more schools in the 7th-8th grade division of the OHSAA. Most public and private high schools in Ohio belong to the OHSAA. South High School (Willoughby, Ohio)
South High School is a public high school in Willoughby, Ohio. It is one of two high schools in the Willoughby-Eastlake City School District. The school was created when the Willoughby Union High School was split into South High and North High School. Located approximately 10 miles east of Cleveland, Willoughby South High School is located close to scenic and historical Downtown Willoughby. The total enrollment is approximately 1,200 students in grades 9-12. The principal is Brian Patrick and the two assistant principals are David Miller (11-12 grades) and Jennifer Neumeyer (9-10 grades). Tom Mckinnon is the athletic director. Wadsworth High School
Wadsworth High School is a public high school for grades 9 through 12 in Wadsworth, Ohio, United States. It is the only high school in the Wadsworth City School District. The school colors are officially red and white. The school mascot is the grizzly bear, and the sports teams are nicknamed the Grizzlies. Ellet High School
Ellet Community Learning Center, formerly known as Ellet High School, is a public high school in Akron, Ohio. It is one of eight high schools in the Akron City School District. Ellet's daily enrollment for the 2012–2013 school year was 1,147. History and previous building (1950-2019) The bulk of the land in the Ellet District was purchased in 1810 from Simon Perkins by three sons of Samuel Ellet, an early settler who moved into the area that year. The Ellet District was annexed to the city of Akron in 1929 and became part of Akron Public Schools the same year. A new Ellet High School on Woolf Avenue opened in 1950. Additions to the school were built in 1957, 1975 and 1987. The school replaced the older Ellet High School on Canton Road, which had served both elementary and high school students since 1891. Orrville High School is a public high school in Orrville, Ohio. It is the only high school in the Orrville City School District. The school nickname is the Red Riders. Orrville's football rivalry with the Wooster High School Generals is the oldest rivalry in Wayne County, having first met back in 1903. After the 2014 season, the teams had met 104 times. Bedford High School is a public school in Bedford, Ohio, southeast of Cleveland. Background Bedford High School was built in 1957, with additions in 1971, and 1994. Bedford High School is accredited by the Ohio Department of Education. Bedford High School was neighbors with St. Peter Chanel High School until Chanel High School was demolished in July 2020. With both schools winning championships in sports, The city of Bedford renamed a portion of Northfield Road the "Avenue of Champions". Both schools were under construction at the same time in the 1950s. Bedford High School was erected in 1955-57, it is built in Norman Brick-style architecture with limestone and cost $2.1 million. Kent State University School ("KSUS") was a laboratory school located in Kent, Ohio, United States, on the campus of Kent State University. The school included grades K–12 and was divided into elementary, junior high/middle, and high school levels with the high school known as Kent State University High School or Kent State High School (abbreviated "KSUHS" or "KSHS"). Originally developed as a teacher training school, it later evolved into a selective laboratory school connected with the Kent State University College of Education. It is the only high school in the Ravenna School District and serves students primarily in Ravenna and Ravenna Township. The school's colors are blue, white, and red and its athletic teams are known as the Ravens. History Ravenna High School was established in 1858, first meeting in a grocery store along West Main Street before moving to the new Union School building on Chestnut Street after it opened in December 1859. Kenmore High School was a public high school in Akron, Ohio. It was 1 of 7 high schools in the Akron Public Schools district. The schools mascot was the Cardinals. They were a member of the Akron City Series athletic conference. History The original Kenmore High School was constructed in 1916. Population in the Village of Kenmore grew rapidly, which resulted in an addition the next year. It was originally part of the Coventry Township District, but was annexed to the Akron Public Schools in 1929. The school housed elementary and high school students for many years. More additions were made to the school in 1952 and 1955. The oldest parts of the school were razed, and the current Kenmore High School was built in 1981. Cuyahoga Falls High School (CFHS) is a public high school in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, United States. It is the only high school in the Cuyahoga Falls City School District. It has a current enrollment of around 1,663 students in grades 9–12. The school's athletic teams are known as the Black Tigers and compete in the Suburban League.
