Arvid Wester
Arvid Mauritz Wester (10 June 1856 – 11 July 1914) was a Swedish soldier who was active in the service of the Belgians in the Congo. For almost two years he commanded the remote station at Stanley Falls, Congo, Stanley Falls, where he had to deal with hostile local people and Arabs. Early years (1856–1883) Arvid Mauritz Wester was born on 10 June 1856 in Karlskoga, Örebro County, Sweden. He was descended from the younger son of Peder Wester. He joined the army as a volunteer on 1 May 1874. On 14 July 1877 he enrolled as a cadet at the Military School. He was appointed second lieutenant in the 21st infantry regiment (Närkes regiment) on 2 December 1878. He decided to take service with the new International African Association (AIA). Mats Wester
Mats Wester (born September 1, 1964 in Botkyrka, Sweden) is a musician and plays the nyckelharpa. Mats studied at Adolf Fredriks Musik Skola in Stockholm. Together with the singer Håkan Hemlin he operates the musical group Nordman. During Nordman's long pause Mats created another group together with Py Bäckman (lyrics) and Elenor Ågeryd (vocals). Mats has also written a song for the group Garmarna "En gång ska han gråta" (Once he will cry). As many times before Py Bäckman wrote the lyrics to the song. Mats Wester was one of four musicians brought together by blues rock singer/guitar player Joe Bonamassa to perform on a variety of instruments in a July 3, 2012 acoustic concert at the Vienna Opera House. Wester Ross () is an area of the Northwest Highlands of Scotland in the council area of Highland. Tess Lieder (''née'' Wester, born 19 May 1993) is a Dutch retired handballer for the Dutch national team. A full international with the Dutch national team since 2012, she was a part the Netherlands team that won the 2019 World Women's Handball Championship; the first title in the country's history. She was also on the team that won the silver medal in the 2015 World Women's Handball Championship with the Dutch team and became the goalkeeper with the highest percentage of saves in the tournament. Peter Jansen Wester (23 September 1877 – 1931; occasionally referred to himself as Peter Johnson Wester) was a Swedish-American agricultural botanist. Born in Sweden, he emigrated to the United States in 1897. Wester worked in several agricultural offices from 1897 to 1903, including leading the United States Department of Agriculture's experiment station and experimental plots for subtropical plants in Miami. He was a special agent in the USDA Bureau of Plant Industry in Miami and Washington from 1904 to 1910. He spent the remainder of his career in the Philippines, working with the Philippine Bureau of Agriculture from 1911 until his death. While there he was leader of Lanao Experimental Station and an advisor to the Minister. He made several trips to Singapore, Java, and Hawaii in order to study coffee cultivation and other crops for the purpose of introducing them to the Philippines.
