West Riding Tramways Act 1904
The Yorkshire (West Riding) Electric Tramways operated two separate tramway services. One in Wakefield between 1904 and 1932, and the other between Normanton, Pontefract and Castleford between 1906 and 1932 Yorkshire (West Riding) Electric Tramways Operated out of a depot in Castleford, this route ran as follows: Normanton High Street – Whitwood Common – Hightown – Castleford Station – Castleford town centre – Glasshoughton – Pontefract Tanshelf – Pontefract Market Place. Service started on 29 October 1906. Wakefield and District Light Railway The Wakefield and District Light Railway operated a network of three tramway lines in Wakefield, centred on the Bull Ring. Wakefield
Wakefield is a cathedral city in West Yorkshire, England located on the River Calder. The city had a population of 109,766 in the 2021 census, up from 99,251 in the 2011 census. The city is the administrative centre of the wider Metropolitan Borough of Wakefield, which had a population of , the most populous district in England. Normanton, West Yorkshire
Normanton is a town in the civil parish of Normanton and Altofts, in the City of Wakefield in West Yorkshire, England. It is north-east of Wakefield and south-west of Castleford. The civil parish extends west and north to the River Calder, West Yorkshire, River Calder, and includes the large village of Altofts. At the time of the United Kingdom Census 2011, 2011 Census, the population of the civil parish was 20,872. The Normanton (electoral ward), Normanton ward of the Wakefield City Council does not include Altofts, but includes the civil parish of Warmfield cum Heath to the south-west of Normanton. The ward had a population of 16,220 in 2011. Normanton is home to the amateur rugby league Normanton Knights club in the National Conference League. Pontefract
Pontefract is a historic market town in the City of Wakefield, a metropolitan district in West Yorkshire, England. It lies to the east of Wakefield and south of Castleford.
