West Michigan Edge
West Michigan Edge was an American association football, soccer team based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, United States. Founded in 1995, the team played in the USL Premier Development League (PDL), the fourth tier of the American Soccer Pyramid, until 2008, when the franchise folded and the team left the league. The team played its home games at EK Stadium on the campus of East Kentwood High School in nearby Kentwood, Michigan. The team's colors were red, white and blue. The club also fielded a team in the USL's Super-20 League, a league for players 17 to 20 years of age run under the United Soccer Leagues umbrella. History The team played as Grand Rapids Explosion from 1995 to 1998, before changing names to West Michigan Explosion prior to the 1999 season, and adopting their final moniker in 2000. Forest Hills Central High School
Forest Hills Central High School is located in Ada Township, Michigan, near Grand Rapids. It is one of three high schools in the Forest Hills Public Schools system. The district also includes Forest Hills Eastern High School and Forest Hills Northern High School. History Forest Hills Central High School (originally "Forest Hills High School") became the first high school of the newly formed Forest Hills School District in the fall of 1958. The doors opened in September with only freshman and sophomore students. The first graduating class was 1961. The school was memorable for its campus style construction consisting eventually of thirteen separate buildings, including an auditorium added in 1977. East Grand Rapids Public Schools
East Grand Rapids Public Schools is a school district located in East Grand Rapids, Michigan. The district boundaries mirror the city limits except for a small grouping of homes north of the city in Grand Rapids. History East Grand Rapids High School opened in fall 1963. The architect was Louis C. Kingscott and Associates. It replaced a building that had been used as the high school since 1928. That building became Wealthy Elementary with the opening of the 1963 high school. The first Wealthy Street Elementary had been built in 1917. The current superintendent of East Grand Rapids public schools is Dr. Heidi Kattula, who began her tenure in the fall of 2018. The high school's 671-seat auditorium opened in October 2002. Cornerstone University is a private evangelical Christian university in Grand Rapids, Michigan, United States. Lowell, Michigan
Lowell is a city in Kent County of the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 3,783 at the 2010 census. Lowell is part of the Grand Rapids metropolitan area and is about east of the city of Grand Rapids. Lowell High School is a public school located in Vergennes Township, Michigan, United States, with a Lowell postal address. By 1992 the school district chose the Steve Wittenbach plot as the current high school location, which in turn helped gift a gas franchise to Grattan Township. Holland Municipal Stadium was a 5,322-seat American football stadium located in Holland, Michigan. Built in 1979, Hope College purchased Holland Municipal Stadium from the City of Holland in 2012 and renamed the facility, where the Flying Dutchmen play, Ray & Sue Smith Stadium. Ray & Sue Smith Stadium is also used regularly for high school football, including the hometown team, Holland High School. The stadium features two concession stands, restrooms, and a press box.
