West Hampstead F.C.
West Hampstead was a football team that formerly played in the Southern Football League. History The first reference to the club was in 1893, and in 1897 they joined Division Two of the London League. They were elected to Division Two of the Southern League for the 1901/02 season, winning six of their 16 league matches. They left the league at the end of the season. In 1905/06 they reached the 4th Qualifying Round of the FA Cup, losing to Swindon Town. There were suggestions that the club had "broken up" before the 1910–11 season, but the club did survive long enough to play in the qualifying rounds of the 1910–11 FA Cup, but the club resigned from the London League before September was out, and the club did not re-emerge for the 1911–12 season. Southern Football League
The Southern League is a football competition featuring semi-professional clubs from East Anglia, the South and Midlands of England, and South Wales. Together with the Isthmian League and the Northern Premier League it forms levels seven and eight of the English football league system. The structure of the Southern League has changed several times since its formation in 1894, and currently there are 87 clubs which are divided into four divisions. The London League was a football (soccer), football competition that was held in the London and surrounding areas of south-east England from 1896 until 1964. In 1896 the president of the London League was Arnold Hills founder of Thames Ironworks F.C. (which later reformed as West Ham United). One of the men who helped draft the rules of the competition was Francis Payne, club secretary of Thames Ironworks F.C. in 1897. Swindon Town Football Club is a professional association football club based in Swindon, Wiltshire, England. The 1910–11 FA Cup was the 40th season of the world's oldest association football competition, the Football Association Challenge Cup (more usually known as the FA Cup). Bradford City won the competition for the first and (as of 2024) only time, beating holders Newcastle United 1–0 in the replay of the final at Old Trafford in Manchester, through a goal from Jimmy Speirs. The first match, held at Crystal Palace, London, was a 0–0 draw. Matches were scheduled to be played at the stadium of the team named first on the date specified for each round, which was always a Saturday. Willesden Green Station
Willesden Green () is a London Underground station on Walm Lane in Willesden. It is on the Jubilee line between Dollis Hill and Kilburn stations. Metropolitan line trains also pass through the station, but do not stop. The station is located in both Travelcard Zone 2 and Zone 3. History The original station opened on 24 November 1879 on the Metropolitan Railway (later the Metropolitan line). From 1894 to 1938, the station was known as Willesden Green and Cricklewood. Hendon is an urban area in the London Borough of Barnet, northwest London northwest of Charing Cross. Hendon was an ancient Manorialism, manor and parish in the county of Middlesex and a former borough, the Municipal Borough of Hendon; it has been part of Greater London since 1965. Samuel Downing (19 January 1883 – 1974) was an English footballer who played for a number of teams including Queens Park Rangers and Chelsea. Career Downing's career started at Willesden Town, but spent time at Willesden Green and Park Royal football clubs before being transferred to West Hampstead.
