West Ham Garfield Football Club was a association football, football club based in West Ham, England. History West Ham Garfield was formed in 1894. After their formation, the club joined the South Essex League. In 1897, West Ham Garfield won the West Ham Charity Cup, beating West Ham United F.C., Thames Ironworks 1–0 in the final. The following year, the club won the competition for a second time, beating Ilford F.C., Ilford 1–0. In 1900, West Ham Garfield entered the FA Cup for the first time, beating Leyton F.C., Leyton in the preliminary round after a replay. 1900–01 FA Cup
The 1900–01 FA Cup was the 30th season of the world's oldest association football competition, the Football Association Challenge Cup (more usually known as the FA Cup). The cup was won by Tottenham Hotspur of the Southern League, who defeated Sheffield United 3–1 in a replay after a 2–2 draw in the first game. This was the only occasion since the formation of The Football League in 1888 that a club from outside the League won the cup. Matches were scheduled to be played at the stadium of the team named first on the date specified for each round, which was always a Saturday. If scores were level after 90 minutes had been played, a replay would take place at the stadium of the second-named team later the same week. If the replayed match was drawn further replays would be held at neutral venues until a winner was determined. Leyton () is a town in east London, England, within the London Borough of Waltham Forest. It borders Walthamstow to the north, Leytonstone to the east, and Stratford to the south, with Clapton, Hackney Wick and Homerton, across the River Lea, to the west. West Ham is an area in East London, located east of Charing Cross in the west of the modern London Borough of Newham. The area, which lies immediately to the north of the River Thames and east of the River Lea, was originally an ancient parish formed to serve parts of the older Manor of Ham, and it later became a County Borough. The Football Association Challenge Cup, more commonly known as the FA Cup, is an annual knockout football competition in men's domestic English football. First played during the 1871–72 season, it is the oldest national football competition in the world. It is organised by and named after The Football Association (The FA).
