West Adelaide SC
West Adelaide Soccer Club is an Australian association football, soccer club currently playing in State League South Australia, South Australian State League 1. Traditionally named Hellas, the club was founded by members of the Greek Australian, Greek community of Adelaide. West Adelaide became a founding member of the National Soccer League in 1977 and a year later became the first Adelaide team to be crowned national champion when it won the 1978 National Soccer League after a 1–1 draw in the final round match with Adelaide City FC, Adelaide City in the Adelaide derby, local derby. A-League Men, also known as the Isuzu UTE A-League for sponsorship reasons, is a professional soccer league in Australia and New Zealand and the highest level of the Australian soccer league system. The Football South Australia Federation Cup, more commonly known as the Federation Cup and referred to as the Australia Cup South Australian preliminary rounds until the semi-finals, is an annual knockout cup competition in South Australia, run by the state's governing body, Football South Australia. The competition is the second longest-running cup competition in the country, only behind the Football West State Cup, first contested eight years earlier. Adelaide Olympic F.C. is a football club from Adelaide, South Australia. The club competes in the National Premier Leagues South Australia. Origins The club's origins can first be traced back to 1978, where it was founded under the name of Adelaide Asteras. In 1982 the club changed its name to Thebarton Asteras. Six years later, the club was taken over by the Greek Orthodox Community of South Australia Incorporated who later changed its name to Olympians in 1989. Raúl Blanco (footballer, Born 1941)
Raúl Blanco (born 4 December 1941) is an Argentine football coach and former player. Blanco was born in Buenos Aires. He is well known for coaching the Socceroos from March 1998 to June 1999. He was also coaching the Olyroos (Under-23 side) at the same time, and coached them during the 2000 Summer Olympics. Blanco was also employed by New Zealand Football as a technical assistant in their successful campaign to qualify for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa while coaching Macarthur Rams.
