Wes Saxton
William Earl Saxton Jr. (born August 13, 1993) is an American football tight end for the New Jersey Generals of the United States Football League (USFL). He played college football at South Alabama. He has been a member of the New York Jets, Washington Redskins, Buffalo Bills, Detroit Lions, San Francisco 49ers, and Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League (NFL); Birmingham Iron of the Alliance of American Football (AAF); and St. Louis BattleHawks of the XFL. Early years Saxton graduated from Hueytown High School in Alabama in 2011. College career Saxton was selected to the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges all-state second-team while playing at Itawamba Community College. In his only season, Saxton had 10 receptions, 137 receiving yards one receiving touchdown. Tight End
The tight end (TE) is a position in American football, arena football, and Canadian football, on the offense (sports), offense. The tight end is often a hybrid position with the characteristics and roles of both an offensive lineman and a wide receiver. Like offensive linemen, they are usually lined up on the offensive line and are large enough to be effective blockers. On the other hand, unlike offensive linemen, they are eligible receivers adept enough to warrant a defense's attention when running pass patterns. Because of the hybrid nature of the position, the tight end's role in any given offense depends on the tactical preferences and philosophy of the head coach as well as overall team dynamic. Alliance Of American Football
The Alliance of American Football (AAF) was a professional American football minor league. The AAF consisted of eight centrally owned and operated teams in the southern and western United States, seven of which were located in metropolitan areas with at least one major professional sports franchise. Founded by Charlie Ebersol and Bill Polian in 2018, the AAF began play on February 9, 2019. The league was scheduled to have a 10-week regular season and conclude with a championship game on April 27. After eight weeks of play, however, the league's football operations were suspended by controlling owner Thomas Dundon on April 2. Hueytown High School Alumni
Hueytown is a city near Bessemer in western Jefferson County, Alabama, United States. It is part of the Birmingham metropolitan area, and was part of the heavy industry development in this area in the 20th century. At the 2020 census, the population was 16,776. It was the home of the famous NASCAR Alabama Gang. Tony Curtis Nathan (born December 14, 1956) is a former American football running back. Nathan played college football at the University of Alabama and was selected in the third round (61st overall) of the 1979 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins, with whom he played from 1979 to 1987. High school During high school, Tony Nathan became one of the first black football players at Woodlawn High School in Birmingham, Alabama. 2020 XFL Draft
The 2020 XFL Draft was the inaugural player selection process to fill the rosters of the eight teams of the 2020 reboot of the XFL. The draft was held on October 15–16, 2019, via conference call, with results released through the XFL's social media channels. Structure The XFL player allocation process was held in multiple phases, separated by position groups. The league used a "snake" format in each phase, in which the draft order reversed with each round. The draft order was shuffled for each phase as predetermined through lotteries. A draft pool of 1,000 eligible players was announced in 200-player installments the week before the draft.
