Werner Perathoner
Werner Perathoner (born September 21, 1967) is an Italian former Alpine skier, who specialized in downhill and super-G disciplines. Although he is also from South Tyrol, he is not a relative of the other Italian skier Lukas Perathoner. Biography Born in Selva di Val Gardena, in the Province of Bolzano, he obtained his first podium in World Cup in 1988, at the Leukerbad downhill, one of his country's most memorable races ever with three Italians occupying the whole podium. A victim of numerous accidents, he won two World Cup races, both in Super-G. Brixen
Brixen (, ; it, Bressanone ; lld, Porsenù or ) is a town in South Tyrol, northern Italy, located about north of Bolzano. Geography First mentioned in 901, Brixen is the third largest city and oldest town in the province, and the artistic and cultural capital of the valley. It is located at the confluence of the Eisack and Rienz rivers, north of Bolzano and south of the Brenner Pass, on the Italy-Austrian border. Kvitfjell
Kvitfjell ( no, White mountain) is a ski resort in Norway, located in the municipality of Ringebu. Developed for the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, it is one of the most modern resorts in the world, with snowmaking on 80% of the alpine pistes. Based near the river Gudbrandsdalslågen, the resort offers 23 pistes: 5 green (nursery), 9 blue (beginner), 6 red (intermediate), and 3 black (advanced). Kvitfjell is also home to a terrain park and of cross-country pistes, with access to extra in Skei and Gålå. Ladin People
The Ladins are an ethnic group in northern Italy. They are distributed in several valleys, collectively known as Ladinia. These include the valleys of Badia and Gherdëina in South Tyrol, of Fassa in the Trentino, and Livinallongo (also known as Buchenstein or Fodom) and Ampezzo in the Province of Belluno. Their native language is Ladin, a Rhaeto-Romance language related to the Swiss Romansh and Friulian languages. They are part of Tyrol, with which they share culture, history, traditions, environment, and architecture. Ladins developed a national ethnic identity in the 19th century. Micurà de Rü undertook the first attempt to develop a written form of the Ladin language. The speed events were held at Hakuba Happoone Winter Resort, Hakuba and the technical events at Shiga Highlands, Shiga Kogen. There were a number of race postponements due to weather; the events began on 10 February and ended on 21 February.
