Forwards (also known as attackers) are outfield positions in an association football team who play the furthest up the pitch and are therefore most responsible for scoring goals as well as assisting them. As with any attacking player, the role of the forward relies heavily on being able to create space for attack. FV Speyer was a German association football club from the town of Speyer, Rhineland-Palatinate. The club's greatest success has been promotion to the tier one Oberliga Südwest in 1952 and 1956, spending seven seasons at this level. In the Bundesliga era ''FV'' played in the tier two Regionalliga Südwest for six seasons from 1968 to 1974, when the league was disbanded. The Saarland national football team (german: Saarländische Fußballnationalmannschaft) was the association football team representing the Saar Protectorate in international football from 1950 to 1956 during the French occupation following World War II. As France opposed the inclusion of the Saarland in the Federal Republic of Germany until 1956, they administered it separately from Germany as the Saar Protectorate. As the local population did not want to join France, separate organisations were founded. A National Olympic Committee was founded in 1950, leading to an appearance of Saar at the 1952 Summer Olympics. The Saarland B national football team was a secondary men's national football team which represented the Saar Protectorate. It was used to try out and develop players for potential inclusion in the first team. Its matches are not considered full internationals. The team played one match on 1 May 1955 against the Netherlands B team. Match The only match of Saarland's B team took place on 1 May 1955 at the Ellenfeldstadion in Neunkirchen against the Netherlands. Saarland led 2–0 at half-time, before Jan van Roessel reduced the deficit for the Netherlands in the second half.
