Wende Snijders, known mononymously as Wende (born 10 October 1978 in Beckenham, Greater London) is a Dutch singer. Biography Wende moved to Indonesia when she was four years old and to Guinea-Bissau when she was six. When she was nine, she went to the Netherlands, where she lived in Zeist. She graduated from vwo and went to the Academie voor Kleinkunst where she graduated in 2002. She specialized in singing French chansons. In 2001 she won first prize and the audience award of the Concours de la Chanson, which was held in De Kleine Komedie in Amsterdam and organized by Alliance Française. Her first album '' Quand tu dors'' was released in 2005 and won an Edison Award in the category Easy Listening/Cabaret. She also won in 2005 the Zonta-Award (a prize for talented woman artists younger than 30) and the BAT prize (potential theatre talent). Beckenham
Beckenham () is a town in Greater London, England, within the London Borough of Bromley. Prior to 1965, it was part of Kent. It is situated north of Elmers End and Eden Park, east of Penge, south of Lower Sydenham and Bellingham, and west of Bromley and Shortlands, and south-east of Charing Cross. Its population at the 2011 Census was 46,844. Beckenham was, until the coming of the railway in 1857, a small village, with most of its land being rural and private parkland. John Barwell Cator and his family began the leasing and selling of land for the building of villas which led to a rapid increase in population, between 1850 and 1900, from 2,000 to 26,000. Oerol
Oerol () is a cultural festival on the island of Terschelling in the Netherlands that is held annually in June. The ten-day festival is focused on live, public theatre as well as music and visual arts. This festival was founded in 1981 by Joop Mulder, then owner of café De Stoep in Midsland. The first edition took place on June 18, 1982. Festival Oerol has grown into one of the largest location theater festivals in Europe, Oerol is programmed at the beginning of the summer. Around 55,000 visitors come to the festival each year. The premise of the Festival is to use the entire island as a stage, although two primary stages (''Groene Strand'' and ''Westerkeyn'') are set up. Beaches, woods, dunes and other landscapes can function as performance spaces, and shows have also taken place in farm sheds, boathouses and an army bunker.
