Wen And Wu
''Wén'' ( zh, c= ) and ''wǔ'' ( zh, c= ) are a conceptual pair in Chinese philosophy and political culture describing opposition and complementarity of civil and military realms of government. Differentiation between ''wen'' and ''wu'' was engaged in discussions on criminal punishment, administrative control, creation and reproduction of social order, education and moral transformation. The concept was formed during the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods, and best articulated in the 3rd or 2nd century BCE. However, until recently it was not much discussed by the Western scholars because of their inaccurate perception of the importance of Confucianism in the pre-imperial and early imperial era, and their understanding of Confucianism as pacifist in its nature. The ''Yi Zhou Shu'' () is a compendium of Chinese historical documents about the Western Zhou period (1046–771 BCE). Its textual history began with a (4th century BCE) text/compendium known as the ''Zhou Shu'' ("Book of Zhou"), which was possibly not differentiated from the corpus of the same name in the extant ''Book of Documents''. Chinese monarchs of the Ming and Qing dynasties performed ceremonies of soil and grain to affirm their sovereignty at the Beijing Shejitan. During the Chinese Warring States period, ministers defied their rulers by claiming a greater loyalty to the "soil and grain". A Wen Wu temple or Wenwu temple () is a dual temple in China venerating the two Tutelary deity, patron gods of Wen and wu, civil and martial affairs in the same temple complex. In southern China, the civil god or Wéndì () is Wenchang Wang, Wenchang (), while in the north it is Confucius; in both north and south the martial god or Wǔdì () is Guan Yu, Lord Guan (). Although single temples to either the civil or martial god alone are widespread, it is comparatively rare to find temples venerating both. Bo Qin
Bo Qin (), also known as Qin Fu (禽父), also known by his posthumous name as the Duke Tai of Lu (魯太公), was the founder of the Lu state, a dynastic vassal state of the Zhou dynasty. Born into the royal Ji family, he was the eldest son of Dan, the Duke of Zhou. Instead of inheriting his father's estate in Zhou, he was granted the newly established State of Lu centered at Qufu.
