Welsh Classic
The Welsh Classic, currently known as the Red Dragon Welsh Classic for sponsorship reasons, is a darts tournament that has been held since 1991. It is sanctioned by the World Darts Federation (WDF). The current champions, from the 2024 events, are: Cliff Prior (men's), Beau Greaves (women's), and Mason Teese (youth). Pontins
Pontins is a British company operating holiday parks in the UK, founded in 1946 by Fred Pontin. It was acquired by Britannia Hotels in 2011. Pontins specialises in offering half-board and self-catering holidays featuring entertainment at resorts, or "holiday parks", as they have branded them. Accommodation is usually in the form of chalet#modern international usage, chalets (which Pontins calls "apartments"). In 2022, it was rated the worst British holiday park chain out of a field of 19 in a survey by consumer association Which? , two of the remaining Pontins resorts (Brean Sands and Pakefield) were closed to the public for a temporary but extended period due to serving as accommmodation for construction workers on nearby projects. Ian White (darts Player)
Ian White (born 17 August 1970), nicknamed "Diamond", is an English professional darts player who competes in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. White has won thirteen PDC ranking events, including three titles on the PDC European Tour. He reached his first major semi-final at the 2019 Players Championship Finals. Career In 1997, White reached the final of the PDC's revived News of the World Darts Championship. He defeated Des Byrne, Gary Spedding, Peter Manley and Andy Jenkins on the way to the final, where he was defeated by Phil Taylor. Alan Norris (darts Player)
Alan Norris (born 21 February 1972) is an English darts player. He was the runner-up at the 2014 BDO World Darts Championship and also lost in the final of the 2012 Zuiderduin Masters, with Stephen Bunting prevailing on both occasions. In 2015, he switched to the PDC and, after reaching the quarter-finals of the 2016 PDC World Darts Championship, 2016 World Championship, he was named the PDC Best Newcomer of the year. Joey Ten Berge
Joey ten Berge (born 18 October 1985) is a Dutch former darts player. Career BDO Ten Berge won the 2001 WDF Europe Youth Cup beating Sweden's Markus Korhonen in the final. Six years later, he captured his first professional title by capturing the 2007 Austrian Open, defeating Hungary's Nándor Bezzeg in the final. He followed up by winning the Open Oost Nederland a month later. Garry Thompson (darts Player)
Garry Thompson (born 9 January 1965) is an English former professional darts player who played in British Darts Organisation (BDO) tournaments. Career Thompson reached the quarter-finals of the 2004 British Open, beating Tony David and Darryl Fitton before losing to Phill Nixon. He then reached the quarter-finals of the 2007 Belgium Open, again beating Fitton along the way. He lost to Robbie Turner. On 17 February 2008 Thompson caused a major surprise by winning the 2008 Scottish Open, with notable wins against Steve Coote, World Masters champion Robert Thornton and former World Champion Martin Adams before beating Shaun Greatbatch in the final. Mark Webster (born 12 August 1983) is a Welsh former professional darts player. Nicknamed Webby and The Spider, he competed in British Darts Organisation (BDO) and Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. Mike Veitch
Michael Veitch (born 15 August 1960) is a Scottish former professional darts player. Career He made his televised debut at the 1990 Embassy World Championship losing in the first round to Brian Cairns, but it would be another 12 years before he returned to the Lakeside Country Club to play at the tournament again. He has won several non-televised Open events including the Scottish Open in 2004, the Welsh Classic in 2005 and the England Open in 2006 – but has failed to make an impression in the World Championship. His best run at Lakeside came in 2006 when he beat Ulf Ceder and Stephen Roberts before losing to Martin Adams in the quarter-finals. In 2016, Veitch played mostly on the PDC Challenge Tour Circuit. Robbie Green (born 19 July 1974) is a former English professional darts player. His nickname was Kong. PDC career Green made his televised debut at the 2004 UK Open, reaching the last 64 stage.
