Weimar, California
Weimar (formerly, "New England Mills" or "Weimer") is an unincorporated community in Placer County, California, located in the Sacramento area. Weimar is located south-southwest of Colfax. As of 2020, its population is 339. History The Weimar post office opened in 1866. An explanation of the town's name comes from the Geisendorfer family; descendants of George Geisendorfer, founder of the town. George Geisendorfer was born in the area of Weimar, Germany. Many of the original inhabitants of Weimar (New England Mills) were also of German descent. Members of the town, and the Geisendorfer family, have testified that George Geisendorfer himself decided to rename the town “Weimar” when the post office rejected the original name of New England Mills. In April, 1919, in the wake of the end of World War I, a resolution was introduced in the California State Senate to change the town's name to Argonne. Weimer Township is a township in Jackson County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 196 at the 2007 census. Weimer Township was organized in 1871, and named after Weimar, Germany, the original home of an early settler. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 34.9 square miles (90.4 km), of which 30.6 square miles (79.3 km) is land and 4.3 square miles (11.2 km) (12.35%) is water. Demographics As of the census of 2007, there were 196 people, 82 households, and 60 families residing in the township. The population density was 7.6 people per square mile (2.2/km). There were 89 housing units at an average density of 2.6/sq mi (1.0/km). Everybody in town is white. Tiffany Marie Weimer (born December 5, 1983) is an American Association football, soccer forward (association football), forward who plays for FC Nordsjælland (women), FC Nordsjælland. Early life During her high school career at North Haven High School in North Haven, Connecticut, Weimer netted 109 goals, a school record. She also garnered the NSCAA's All-American award twice, All-New England award three times, Parade All-American award twice, McDonald's All-American award once and SCC Hammonasset's All-Conference Award four times. Weimer played on South Central Premiere from 1993 to 1998, which is where her soccer career got its start. She went on to play for World Class Soccer from 1999 to 2003. Wolfram Robert Wilhelm Weimer (born 11 November 1964) is a German publisher and journalist. He was editor-in-chief of ''Die Welt'' and ''Berliner Morgenpost'', ''Focus'', and the magazine ''Cicero'', which he founded.
