Selfkant (; or ''Zelfkant'' ; Limburgish: ) is a municipality in the Heinsberg district, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is the most westerly municipality in Germany. Geography Isenbruch in Selfkant is the most westerly point in Germany since 1919; before that, the position was held by Gravelotte, in Alsace-Lorraine. Selfkant's border with the Netherlands is long, but the border with the rest of Germany is only long. Hans Wehr
Hans Bodo Wehr (; 5 July 190924 May 1981) was a German Arabist. He is best known for his work on '' A Dictionary of Modern Written Arabic'', originally published in German as in 1952. The system of transliteration used in the dictionary has become known as Hans Wehr transliteration. Life Wehr was born in Leipzig in 5 July 1909. He attended a gymnasium in Halle, and then studied at universities in Halle, Berlin, and Leipzig. He received his doctorate in 1935 and his habilitation in 1939. He joined the Nazi Party in 1940, and wrote an essay arguing that Germany should ally with the Arabs against Great Britain and France. He had begun work on an ArabicGerman dictionary, and the project received funding from the German government, which intended to use make use of the dictionary in translating ''Mein Kampf'' into Arabic. Julian Wehr (1898–1970) was known as the "American Master of Animated Books". Around 9 million copies of Wehr's books were sold in the United States and Great Britain, and were translated and sold in France, Germany, and Spain during the 1940s and 1950s. Marcus Wehr (born December 1, 2000) is an American football offensive guard for the Montana State Bobcats. Early life and high school Wehr attended Billings Central Catholic High School in Billings, Montana, helping the football team win the Class A state championship as a senior. He committed to play college football for the Montana State Bobcats. College career In his first two collegiate seasons in 2019 and 2020, Wehr appeared in just one game for Montana State. Wesley Conrad Wehr (April 17, 1929 – April 12, 2004) was an American paleontology, paleontologist and artist best known for his studies of Cenozoic paleobotany, fossil floras in western North America, the Stonerose Interpretive Center, and as a part of the Northwest School (art), Northwest School of art. Thomas Alvin Wehr is an American psychiatrist, research scientist, and author. He is a scientist emeritus and former chief of the Clinical Psychobiology branch of the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH). Education Wehr received his degree in medicine from the University of Louisville School of Medicine in 1969. He subsequently completed his psychiatric residency at Yale School of Medicine and an internship at Michael Reese Hospital. Research In a 1990s study on photoperiodicity in humans, Wehr placed a group of volunteers in an environment in which it was dark for 14 hours each day for a month.
