Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. is a privately held American supermarket chain. It is now headquartered in Gates, New York, but was founded on January 30, 1916, in Rochester, New York. As of late 2024, Wegmans had 111 stores in eight states (New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Massachusetts, Virginia, North Carolina, Delaware) and the District of Columbia. Robert Wegman
Robert Bernard Wegman (October 14, 1918 – April 20, 2006) was an American retail executive, associated with the one-stop shopping concept. He was the son of Wegmans Food Markets co-founder Walter Wegman. From 1969 until his death in 2006 at age 87, he was the chairman of Wegmans. In over half a century under his leadership, the family grocery business grew into one of the largest private companies in the United States. East Rochester is a coterminous town and village located southeast of the city of Rochester in Monroe County, New York, United States. The town and village was home to 6,334 people at the time of the 2020 United States census. History Beginnings The village of East Rochester was originally known as the village of Despatch, when the community was incorporated in 1897. DeWitt is a town in Onondaga County, New York, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 26,074. The town is named after major Moses DeWitt, a judge and soldier.
