Weeping Wine
"Weeping Wine" is a song by English singer, songwriter and musician Lloyd Cole, released in 1991 as the second single from his second studio album ''Don't Get Weird on Me Babe''. The song was written by Cole, and produced by Cole, Fred Maher and Paul Hardiman. It reached number 91 in the UK Singles Chart. Release Cole originally agreed to Polydor's wishes for " She's a Girl and I'm a Man" to be the lead single from ''Don't Get Weird on Me Babe'' on the condition that "There for Her" or another track from the album's "orchestral side" would be the second single. After "She's a Girl and I'm a Man" failed to meet the label's expectations, Cole was scheduled to appear on ''Wogan'' to perform the follow-up single. The label ultimately decided to release the more commercial "Weeping Wine" as the second single instead of an orchestral one without Cole's input. Lloyd Cole
Lloyd Cole (born 31 January 1961) is an English singer and songwriter. He was lead singer of Lloyd Cole and the Commotions from 1984 to 1989 and subsequently worked solo. Early life Cole was born in Buxton, Derbyshire, England. He grew up in nearby Chapel-en-le-Frith and went to New Mills Grammar School and later attended Runshaw College in Leyland. He studied a year of law at University College London but switched to the University of Glasgow, where he studied philosophy and English, and also met the future members of The Commotions. Career 1984–1989: Lloyd Cole and the Commotions The Commotions' 1984 debut, '' Rattlesnakes'', contained literary and pop culture references to such figures as Arthur Lee, Norman Mailer, Grace Kelly, Eva Marie Saint, Simone de Beauvoir, Truman Capote and Joan Didion. ''Melody Maker'' was a British weekly music magazine, one of the world's earliest music weeklies; according to its publisher, IPC Media, the earliest. It was a sister publication to the British music magazine ''Music Week'' which itself only published the Top 75 UK singles and albums charts. ''Charts Plus'' was published from 1991 to 1994. The Official Charts (legal name: The Official UK Charts Company Limited) is a British inter-professional organization that compiles various "official" record charts in the United Kingdom, Ireland and France. In the United Kingdom, its charts include ones for singles, albums and films, with the data compiled from a mixture of downloads, purchases (of physical media) and streaming. Robert Wolfe Quine (December 30, 1942 – May 31, 2004) was an American guitarist. A native of Akron, Ohio, Quine worked with a wide range of musicians, though he himself remained relatively unknown.
