Wednesfield
Wednesfield () is a town and historic village in the City of Wolverhampton, in the county of the West Midlands (county), West Midlands, England; it was historically within the county of Staffordshire. It is east-north-east of Wolverhampton city centre and about from Birmingham. Local areas include Ashmore Park and Wood End, Wolverhampton, Wood End. There is a formal garden at Wednesfield Park. Toponymy Its name comes from the Old English ''Wōdnesfeld'', meaning "Woden's field", open land belonging to, or holy to, the high god of the Germanic mythology, Germanic Pantheon. Heath Town is a suburban area of Wolverhampton, in the county of the West Midlands (county), West Midlands, England, to the east of the city centre. It is also a Ward (politics), ward of City of Wolverhampton Council. Ashmore Park
Ashmore Park is a large housing estate in Wednesfield, England. It has been part of the city of Wolverhampton, West Midlands since 1966, when the majority of Wednesfield was incorporated into Wolverhampton. It forms part of the Wednesfield North ward of the City of Wolverhampton council. The estate consists predominantly of council-built houses, flats and bungalows from the 1950s. History Ashmore Park was initially one of the wooded estates Lady Wulfruna transferred to St. Peter's Fold to allow the park to generate income and food. A moat-surrounded farmhouse was built here sometime during the mid-14th century. Three-quarters of the moat still exists today in the "bottom shops" precinct. Wednesfield Heath Railway Station
Wednesfield Heath railway station was a station built on the Grand Junction Railway and opened on 4 July 1837 as Wolverhampton (often signposted as ''Wednesfield Heath for Wolverhampton''). It was the first railway station serving the town (now city) of Wolverhampton, and was located around a mile to the east of the city centre within the suburb of Heath Town, on Station Road (also known as Powell Street). It was designated as a First Class station. The station was closed in 1853, when it was replaced by a more centrally located station on the nearby Stour Valley Line. Wolverhampton station is a step-free access regional interchange railway station situated in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, England on the Birmingham Loop of the West Coast Main Line.
