Erhard Wechselmann
Erhard Eduard Wechselmann (1895–1943) was a German baritone who was murdered in Auschwitz concentration camp. Wechselmann was born in Eastern-Europe but migrated to The Hague, the Netherlands, where he was chazan in the Synagoge. He was also vocal teacher of Dutch Jiddish singer Lin Jaldati, who wrote also about him in the autobiography she published together with her husband Eberhard Rebling in 1986 in the German Democratic Republic, Sag nie, du gehst den letzten Weg. Dutch translation: Lied van verzet (Song of resistance), 2024. Jaldati, Rebling and Wechselmann also gave a concert together. According to a Dutch source, Wechselmann was murdered in Sobibor. Ignaz Wechselmann
Ignaz Wechselmann (1828 in Nikolai, Prussian Silesia – January 17, 1903 in Budapest) was a Hungarian architect and philanthropist. Educated in Berlin, Wechselmann moved to Vienna, where he became the friend and assistant of the architect Ludwig Förster. In 1856 he moved to Budapest, where he, as Förster's representative, superintended the building of the Dohány Street Synagogue. Most of the monumental buildings erected in the Hungarian capital between 1870 and 1890 were designed by him, his work including palaces, mills, factories, churches, and the famous Burg-Bazar. Maj Wechselmann
Maj Wechselmann (born 1 April 1942, in Copenhagen), is a Danish-Swedish documentary director and filmmaker, known for expressing radical social criticism in her documentaries. Wechselmann was born in Copenhagen, the daughter of Bruno Wechselmann and Reina Korinman. She went through drama school in Odense, and studied film directing at the University College of Film, Radio, Television and Theatre in Stockholm in the early 1970s. Her breakthrough as a documentary filmmaker was in 1972 with ''Viggen 37: Ett militärplans historia'', about the Swedish Saab 37 Viggen combat aircraft. Wechselmann's films often deal with themes such as international solidarity and current political events, and her perspective is that of the political left.
