We Must ( sr-Cyrl, Морамо, Moramo; stylised as MORAMO,) was an opposition electoral alliance that participated in the 2022 Serbian general elections. Initially formed in November 2021, when Together for Serbia (ZZS), Do not let Belgrade drown (NDB) and Ecological Uprising (EU) signed an agreement to participate in the 2022 general election under a joint list, it was formalised as a coalition in January 2022. Its representatives had previously played a major role during the 2021–2022 environmental protests. The coalition won 4.7% of the popular vote and managed to cross the electoral threshold, while its presidential candidate, Biljana Stojković, won 3.3% of the popular vote. Following the election, a part of the coalition transformed into the Together political party in June 2022 and We Must ceased to exist. Aleksandar Jovanović Ćuta
Aleksandar Jovanović ( sr-Cyrl, Александар Јовановић; born 30 September 1966), commonly known by his nickname Ćuta, is a Serbian environmental and political activist who has been a member of the National Assembly of Serbia since August 2022. Born in Belgrade, Jovanović often stayed at Stara Planina, a mountain in Eastern Serbia, and was interested in rock music, football, and chess during his youth. He founded the Defend the Rivers of Stara Planina organisation in 2017, which primarily concentrated on combating the construction of small hydros in the Stara Planina region, although over time, Jovanović shifted his presence over other regions of Serbia. He gained recognition in the media and has been noted as one of the representatives of environmental activism in Serbia. 2021–2022 Serbian Environmental Protests
In September 2021, a series of environmental protests began in Belgrade and other locations in Serbia. Protesters demanded the rejection of Rio Tinto (corporation), Rio Tinto's mine investment and the withdrawal of proposed changes to the Expropriation and Referendum Laws. Anglo-Australian corporation Rio Tinto discovered jadarite, a mineral that has high concentration of lithium, in the Jadar (Drina), Jadar Valley in 2004. Rio Tinto was given permission in 2017 by the government of Serbia to open a mine from which lithium would be extracted. Rio Tinto's project received criticism from environmental activists and academics, stating the possibility that the project could pollute the nearby environment. Amidst the protests, changes to the Expropriation Law and Law on Referendum were proposed in the National Assembly of Serbia. Zdravko Ponoš ( sr-Cyrl, Здравко Понош; born 3 November 1962) is a Serbian politician, former diplomat, and retired general who served as Chief of the Serbian General Staff, chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces from 2006 to 2008. Born in Golubić, Šibenik-Knin County, Golubić, a village near Knin, Ponoš later moved to Zagreb, where he spent most of his youth and obtained a degree in electronic engineering. The Balkan mountain range is located in the eastern part of the Balkan peninsula in Southeastern Europe. It is conventionally taken to begin at the peak of Vrashka Chuka on the border between Bulgaria and Serbia.
