Wayne Marshall (conductor)
Wayne Ea Marshall (born 13 January 1961) is a British pianist, organist, and conductor. Biography Marshall was born in Oldham, Lancashire, to parents originally from Barbados. He began piano studies at the age of three, and heard organ music regularly as a child through Sunday church services, which initiated his interest in the organ. He was a student at Chetham's School, Chetham's School of Music, Manchester, from 1971 to 1979. Marshall continued his music studies at the Royal College of Music, where he held a Foundation scholarship, and was in parallel an Organ Scholar at St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle. He did post-graduate studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna, Hochschule für Musik in Vienna from 1983-1984. As an organist, Marshall has served as organist and associate artist of the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester. Oldham is a town in Greater Manchester, England. It lies amongst the Pennines on elevated ground between the rivers River Irk, Irk and River Medlock, Medlock, southeast of Rochdale, and northeast of Manchester. The Great Gatsby (opera)
''The Great Gatsby'' is a 1999 opera in two acts written by American composer John Harbison. The libretto, also by Harbison, was adapted from the 1925 novel ''The Great Gatsby'' by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Additional popular song lyrics were by Murray Horwitz. The opera was commissioned by the Metropolitan Opera in honor of music director James Levine's 25th anniversary with the company. Niklas Willén (born 30 March 1961) is a Swedish Conducting, conductor. He was born in Stockholm and studied conducting and composition there at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, Royal College of Music. His conducting teachers were Professors Jorma Panula and Kjell Ingebretsen, while his composition tutors were Ingvar Karkoff and Daniel Börtz. Niklas Willén has served as Principal Guest Conductor of the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, Chief Conductor of the Nordic Chamber Orchestra in Sweden and the South Jutland Symphony Orchestra in Denmark.
