The 2011 Manx Grand Prix Festival were held between Saturday 20 August and Friday 2 September 2011 on the 37.733-mile Snaefell Mountain Course, Mountain Course. The Blue Riband event of the Manx Grand Prix Race week was won by Andrew Brady after victory in the 2011 Senior Manx Grand Prix at an average speed of 113.788 mph and also completing an important double after winning the Junior Manx Grand Prix held in poor weather conditions. The 3 lap (113.00 miles) Newcomers Race was won by Wayne Hamilton at an average speed of 112.022 mph and Gavin Lupton winning the 400 cc Class B Newcomers race. The Isle of Man TT competitor Ryan Farquhar completed a hattrick of victories after winning the 350 cc Junior Classic Race, the 500 cc Classic Race riding a 499 cc Paton (motorcycles), Paton and the Classic Superbike Race. Manx Grand Prix
The Manx Grand Prix motorcycle races are held on the Isle of Man TT Course (or ' Mountain Circuit') every year for a two-week period, usually spanning the end of August and early September. New for 2022 is a period reduction from 14 to 9 days. The MGP or Manx (as it is more commonly known) is considered to be the amateur rider's alternative and a learning experience for the Isle of Man TT races held in May/June. The event differs from the TT in that it does not cater for sidecars. A 'Classic TT' race category for historic racing machines was added in 2013 as part of the Manx Government Department of Economic Development's expansion to create what is termed ''Festival of Motorcycling''. These new races also allowed for professional and experienced riders to compete. Matchless
Matchless is one of the oldest marques of British motorcycles, manufactured in Plumstead, London, between 1899 and 1966. A wide range of models were produced under the Matchless name, ranging from small two-strokes to 750 cc four-stroke twins. Matchless had a long history of racing success; a Matchless ridden by Charlie Collier won the first single-cylinder race in the first Isle of Man TT in 1907. In 1938, Matchless and AJS became part of Associated Motorcycles (AMC), both companies producing models under their own marques. During the amalgamations that occurred in the British motorcycle industry in the 1960s, the Matchless four-stroke twin was replaced with the Norton twin, ending a long history of independent production. Norton Motorcycle Company
The Norton Motorcycle Company (formerly Norton Motors, Ltd.) is a brand of motorcycles, originally based in Birmingham, England. For some years around 1990, the rights to use the name on motorcycles was owned by North American financiers. From 2008 to 2020, a line of motorcycles was produced under owner and chief executive Stuart Garner. Due to financial failure with large debts, in April 2020 administrators BDO agreed to sell certain aspects of Garner's business to Project 303 Bidco Limited, a new business established for the purpose with links to Indian motorcycle producer TVS Motor Company.
