Wayne DeSutter
Wayne DeSutter (May 17, 1944 – June 8, 2025) was an American professional football player who was a tackle for the Buffalo Bills of the American Football League (AFL) in 1966. Biography DeSutter played college football for the Western Illinois Leathernecks. He was inducted into the WIU Athletics Hall of Fame in 1986. DeSutter was selected in the sixth round of the 1966 NFL draft by the Detroit Lions, but chose to play for the Bills, who picked him in the 12th round of the AFL draft. Following his one season in the AFL, DeSutter served in the Illinois National Guard. Starting in 1970, he began a 34-year career in education as a teacher, athletic director and football coach. He was inducted into the Illinois High School Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1993. A tackle is a playing position in American football. Historically, in the one-platoon system prevalent in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, a tackle played on both offense and defense. In the modern system of specialized units, offensive tackle and defensive tackle are separate positions, and the stand-alone term "tackle" refers to the offensive tackle position only. The offensive tackle (OT, T), sometimes specified as left tackle (LT) or right tackle (RT), is a position on the offensive line that flanks the two guards. 1966 American Football League Draft
The 1966 American Football League draft was held on Saturday, November 27, 1965. The AFL added the Miami Dolphins as an expansion team in 1966 to bring its total to nine franchises for its seventh season. The Dolphins were awarded the first overall pick in the draft, who used it to select running back Jim Grabowski. The only Hall of Famer to come out of this draft was kicker Jan Stenerud, who was picked by the Kansas City Chiefs in the third round of the Red Shirt portion of the draft. 1990 Plainfield Tornado
The 1990 Plainfield tornado was a devastating tornado that struck Plainfield, Illinois in the Chicago metropolitan area during the afternoon hours of Tuesday, August 28, 1990. The violent tornado killed 29 people and injured 353. It is the only F5/EF5 rated tornado ever officially recorded in August in the United States (the 1883 Rochester, Minnesota tornado is unofficially considered an F5), and the only F5 tornado to strike the Chicago area. There are no known videos or photographs of the tornado itself; however, in 2011, a video surfaced online showing the supercell that spawned the tornado. The Plainfield tornado was part of a small outbreak that produced several tornadoes in the Northern United States, specifically Kansas, and the Canadian province of Ontario. Plainfield High School - Central Campus, or PHS-CC, is a four-year public high school in Plainfield, Illinois, a southwest suburb of Chicago, Illinois, in the United States. It is part of Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202, which also includes three other high schools: Plainfield South High School, Plainfield North High School and Plainfield East High School.
