Watse Cuperus (1891 – 1966) was a Dutch journalist, writer and translator. He wrote in West Frisian, and his most important work is ''The golden wire'' (De gouden tried, 1941–50). Blije
Blije () is a village in Noardeast-Fryslân in the province of Friesland, the Netherlands. It had a population of around 860 in January 2017. Before 2019, the village was part of the Ferwerderadiel municipality. History The village was first mentioned in the 13th century as Blitha. The etymology is unclear. Leeuwarden
Leeuwarden (; ; ; ) is a List of cities in the Netherlands by province, city and Municipalities of the Netherlands, municipality in Friesland, Netherlands, with a population of 127,073 (2023). It is the provincial capital and seat of the Provincial Council of Friesland. The region has been continuously inhabited since the 10th century. It came to be known as Leeuwarden in the early 9th century AD and was granted Town privileges, city privileges in 1435. West is one of the four cardinal directions or points of the compass. It is the opposite direction from east and is the direction in which the Sun sets on the Earth. Etymology The word "west" is a Germanic word passed into some Romance languages (''ouest'' in French, ''oest'' in Catalan, ''ovest'' in Italian, ''vest'' in Romanian, ''oeste'' in Spanish and Portuguese).
