Waterford, Western Australia
Waterford is a small riverside suburb of Perth, the state capital of Western Australia. Its local government area is the City of South Perth. Waterford is situated on the Canning River. History Originally part of the suburb of Karawara, the area south of Manning Road was renamed Waterford in the 1980s. The area is named after the birthplace in Ireland of Edmund Rice, the founder of the Christian Brothers. From 1901, the Christian Brothers were allocated land for the Clontarf Orphanage, a school and farm for orphaned and disadvantaged boys, situated on 2 square kilometres of land south of Manning Road and along the shores of the Canning River. The college is now known as the "Clontarf Aboriginal College" and is governed by a representative Board of Management which is responsible to the Catholic Archbishop of Perth through the Director of Catholic Education of Western Australia. CircleRoute
The CircleRoute is a pair of circular Transperth bus routes through Perth's suburbs. History The CircleRoute was introduced in two stages. On 16 February 1998, the first stage of the CircleRoute commenced operating between Fremantle and Oats Street stations via Murdoch station. It was operated by Swan Transit with Mercedes-Benz O305 buses in a special livery with purple bands blended into the green blocks of the standard colour scheme, with an elliptical shaped logo featuring two arrows in white. On 22 February 1999, the route was extended to become a 133 stop, 84 kilometre circular route. All four Perth contractors; Path Transit, Perth Bus, Southern Coast Transit and Swan Transit, operated services. Fremantle Railway Station
Fremantle railway station is the terminus of Transperth's Fremantle line in Western Australia. History The original Fremantle station opened in Cliff Street on 1 March 1881 as the terminus of the Eastern Railway to Guildford via Perth. As the Eastern Railway was extended, its importance grew. It became an important hub for gold miners arriving in Western Australia via ship and then travelling to the Yilgarn and Eastern Goldfields when the line opened to Kalgoorlie in 1896. In 1907, a new station and marshalling yards were established 300 metres to the north-east on the site of the former Fremantle Railway Workshops to better service the newly constructed Fremantle Harbour. The station was designed by William Dartnall, Chief Engineer of Existing Lines of the Railway Department in 1905. Curtin Central bus station is a Transperth bus station located at the Curtin University's Bentley campus. It has twelve stands, six bus layover bays and is served by six regular Transperth routes operated by Path Transit and Swan Transit as well as one special events route to Perth Stadium. Canning Bridge Railway Station
Canning Bridge railway station is a suburban railway and bus station on the Mandurah line in Perth, Western Australia. Situated in the suburb of Como, Western Australia, Como next to the Canning River, the station is located at the interchange between the Kwinana Freeway and Canning Highway. The train platforms are at ground level within the median strip of the freeway, while the bus stands are on the bridge carrying Canning Highway. Canning Bridge station opened as a bus station on 11 February 2002 to facilitate transfers between buses on the Kwinana Freeway and on Canning Highway. Cannington Railway Station
Cannington is a suburban railway station on the Armadale and Thornlie–Cockburn lines, serving the suburb of Cannington south of Perth, Western Australia. It is located from Perth Station, and is part of the Transperth commuter rail network. It temporarily closed on 20 November 2023 as part of the Victoria Park-Canning Level Crossing Removal Project, and reopened on 8 June 2025. History The original Cannington station was located between Station Street and Crawford Road in East Cannington, and was one of the original stations operational when the Armadale Line opened in 1889. Manning Road is a road in Perth, Western Australia, linking Albany Highway in Cannington to Kwinana Freeway in Como. It forms the entirety of State Route 26.
