The album's title track won ABBA the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest and became a global hit, launching the group's career. Recording Recording sessions for ''Waterloo'' began on 24 September 1973 with the track "Dance (While the Music Still Goes On)". This song was unusual in that it is the only ABBA track not to feature member Benny Andersson on keyboards, instead featuring American pianist John "Rabbit" Bundrick who was in Sweden at the time.Sleeve notes, ''Waterloo'' re-issue, Carl Magnus Palm, 2014 Bundrick, however, was not credited on the album. Three weeks later the next two songs ("Suzy-Hang-Around" and "My Mama Said") went into the studio. Ring Ring (ABBA Song)
"Ring Ring (Bara du slog en signal)", in English: ''"Ring Ring (If only you called)"'', titled simply as "Ring Ring" in the English single version, is a song by Swedish group ABBA, released as the title track of their 1973 debut album. The single gave the group their big break in several European countries (although the rest of Europe, North America and Australia would be introduced to ABBA the following year). The song was written in Swedish by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, along with their manager Stig Anderson, with the original title of "Ring Ring (Bara du slog en signal)" ("Ring Ring (If Only You Called)"). As in other languages, the English translation (helped by Neil Sedaka and his collaborator Phil Cody) showed notable changes in the original lyrics but with a similar meaning, including a new chorus: "Ring, ring, why don't you give me a call?". The Swedish version reached No. 1 in the Swedish charts. "Ring Ring" tells of a lover waiting alone by the telephone fo ...

Gatefold
A gatefold cover or gatefold LP is a form of packaging for gramophone record, LP records that became popular in the mid-1960s. A gatefold cover, when folded, is the same size as a standard LP cover (i.e., a 12½-inch [32.7-centimetre] square). The larger gatefold cover provided a means of including artwork, liner notes, and/or song lyrics, which would otherwise not have fit on a standard record cover. It became famous as an extension of progressive rock, as the expansive, transient gatefolds by artists such as Roger Dean (artist), Roger Dean, H. R. Giger, or Hipgnosis became associated with concept albums. Gatefold sleeves were also frequently used when an album contained more than one record, with Bob Dylan's 1966 double album, ''Blonde on Blonde'' being an early example of a multi-LP album to be released in a gatefold. Typically, double albums would feature one disc in each half of the cover, with larger albums either placing multiple LPs in one or both sleeves or using larger ...

Half-speed Mastered
Half-speed mastering is a technique occasionally used when cutting the acetate lacquers from which phonograph records are produced. The cutting machine platter is run at half of the usual speed (16 rpm for 33 rpm records) while the signal to be recorded is fed to the cutting head at half of its regular playback speed. The reasons for using this technique vary, but it is generally used for improving the high-frequency response of the finished record. By halving the speed during cutting, very high frequencies that are difficult to cut become much easier to cut since they are now mid-range frequencies. Double Album
A double album (or double record) is an audio album that spans two units of the primary medium in which it is sold, typically either records or compact disc. A double album is usually, though not always, released as such because the recording is longer than the capacity of the medium. Recording artists often think of double albums as being a single piece artistically; however, there are exceptions, such as John Lennon's '' Some Time in New York City'' (which consisted of one studio record and one live album packaged together), OutKast's '' Speakerboxxx/The Love Below'' (effectively two solo albums, one by each member of the duo), and Red Hot Chili Peppers' '' Stadium Arcadium'' (which Disc 1 has half of the album and Disc 2 has the other half). Since the advent of the compact disc, albums are sometimes released with a bonus disc featuring additional material as a supplement to the main album, with live tracks, studio out-takes, cut songs, or older unreleased material. Box Set
A boxed set or (its US name) box set is a set of items (for example, a compilation of books, musical recordings, films or television programs) traditionally packaged in a box, hence 'boxed', and offered for sale as a single unit. Music Artists and bands with a long and successful career often have anthology or "essential" collections of their music released as box sets. These often include rare and never-before-released tracks. Some box sets collect previously released singles or albums by a music artist, and often collect the complete discography of an artist, such as Pink Floyd's ''Oh, by the Way'' and ''Discovery (Pink Floyd box set), Discovery'' sets. Sometimes bands release expanded versions of their most successful albums, such as Pink Floyd's ''Immersion'' versions of their ''The Dark Side of the Moon'' (1973), ''Wish You Were Here (Pink Floyd album), Wish You Were Here'' (1975) and ''The Wall'' (1979) boxes. Pink Floyd have also released ''The Early Years 1965–1972'' b ...
