Abbas Wasim Efendi
ʿAbbās Wasīm Efendi (1689–1760) was an Ottoman Empire, Ottoman astronomer who wrote translations and commentaries used by astronomers and timekeepers of the Ottoman state. His most important work is a Turkish commentary on Ulugh Beg's ''Zij''. He was born in Bursa, Turkey and died in Istanbul. He traveled extensively in search of knowledge, visiting Damascus, Egypt, Mecca, and Medina. After returning to Istanbul, he opened a clinic and pharmacy and treated patients for about 40 years. In addition, he wrote and translated many works on medicine and pharmacology that included the latest achievements of European science. He received his education from Bursalı Ali and Ömer Şifai Efendi. His grave is located in a cemetery outside Edirnekapı. Wassim El Banna (; born 10 May 1979) is a former professional footballer who played as a forward. He has represented Odense Boldklub, Aarhus Fremad, and Vejle Boldklub in the Danish Superliga. Wasim Hasan Raja (Punjabi, ) (3 July 1952 – 23 August 2006) was a British Pakistani schoolteacher, match referee, cricket coach and cricketer who played in 57 Test matches and 54 One Day Internationals for the Pakistani national cricket team from 1973 to 1985. S. M. Wasim Jafri () is a Pakistani gastroenterologist. He serves as a professor of medicine and head of the gastroenterology section at the Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi, Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH), Karachi, Pakistan. He obtained his high school education at the Don Bosco High School, Lahore. His family moved from Lahore to Karachi where he studied at the D. J. Science College. He later studied medicine at the Dow Medical College, Karachi and obtained his MBBS degree from the University of Karachi. Wasim Jaffer (born 16 February 1978) is an Indian retired professional cricketer. He was a right-handed opening batsman and an occasional right arm off-break bowler. In 2011 he became the highest run-scorer in Ranji Trophy cricket, surpassing Amol Muzumdar. In November 2018, he became the first batsman to score 11,000 runs in the competition.
