Warrior Dog Foundation
Warrior Dog Foundation is a non-profit organization (EIN: 46-2092762) located in the Cooper, Texas, United States that provides care and comfort to dogs that have ended their service supporting American troops. Its main goal is to give the dogs a place to live out their golden years having fun on a ranch with dignity and respect. Programs The foundation helps to transition dogs from aoperational environmentinto its state-of-the-art kennel facility. The foundation educates the public on the importance of K-9s in the combat environment, and showcases the level of sacrifice these dogs give in support of U.S. troops. Cooper, Texas
Cooper is a city in and the county seat of Delta County, in the U.S. state of Texas. Located between the north and south forks of the Sulphur River, Cooper is the largest settlement in Delta County. As of the 2020 United States census, the city had a population of 1,911. First inhabited by native people, Cooper was founded around 1870, at the same time that Delta County was established. Mike Ritland
Michael B. Ritland born in Waterloo, Iowa is a former United States Navy SEAL, public speaker and dog trainer. He created the Warrior Dog Foundation, to provide care to dogs that have ended their service in battle front, and the Team Dog Online Training Community. Military career Ritland joined the US Navy in 1996. Ritland (BUD/S) at Naval Amphibious Base Coronado and graduated from BUD/S class 215 in 1998. Ritland served 12 years as a US Navy SEAL with SEAL Team THREE and saw action in Operation Iraqi Freedom and numerous special operations missions. A nearby marine mission in particular, had a detailed account of an explosive-detector dog alert to a grenade booby trap hidden in a doorway, saving the lives of the Marines assigned to the mission. The Animals in War Memorial is a war memorial, in Hyde Park, London, commemorating the countless animals that have served and died under British military command throughout history. It was designed by English sculptor David Backhouse and unveiled in November 2004 by Anne, Princess Royal. Dickin Medal
The PDSA Dickin Medal was instituted in 1943 in the United Kingdom by Maria Dickin to honour the work of animals in World War II. It is a bronze medallion, bearing the words "For Gallantry" and "We Also Serve" within a laurel wreath, carried on a ribbon of striped green, dark brown, and pale blue.
