Foul Bay, South Australia
__NOTOC__ Foul Bay is a locality in the Australian state of South Australia located on the south coast of Yorke Peninsula immediately adjoining Investigator Strait about west of the state capital of Adelaide. It was formally established in May 1999, with its name deriving from the Foul Bay Shack Site on South Coast Road. It also incorporates the pre-existing "Old Wheel Inn Shack Site" and the "Point Davenport Shack Site". A government town named Nugent was surveyed at the end of Nugent Road, near the Point Davenport site, in July 1880; however, it was never developed and was declared to have ceased to exist on 11 June 1925. In 2012, a portion of Foul Bay was added to Warooka. As of 2014, the majority land use within the locality was “primary production.” Foul Bay is located within the federal division of Grey, the state electoral district of Narungga and the local government area of the Yorke Peninsula Council. 56.4% are male and 43.6% are female. Hardwicke Bay is a locality in the Australian state of South Australia located on the west coast of Yorke Peninsula overlooking the bay also named Hardwicke Bay about west of the Adelaide city centre and about north of the town of Warooka. A result of the creation of boundaries in 1999 was that The Pines fully enclosed the adjoining locality of Couch Beach on all sides except the coastline. The name was derived from a headland on the coastline which was named after a John Souttar who married Joanna Daly, the daughter of Dominick Daly, the seventh Governor of South Australia. Point Turton is a coastal town west of Adelaide, South Australia. It is located in the Yorke Peninsula Council. History The town was named by a marine surveyor, Captain John Hutchinson, as a commemoration of a double wedding of two daughters of the then Governor of South Australia, Dominick Daly, at Government House. In August 1866, Daly's youngest daughter, artist Caroline Louisa Daly, married Henry Hobhouse Turton, manager of the Savings Bank of South Australia, while the eldest daughter, Joanna, married John Souttar, Manager of the Bank of Adelaide. The Yorke Peninsula is a peninsula located northwest and west of Adelaide in South Australia, between Spencer Gulf on the west and Gulf St Vincent on the east. The peninsula is separated from Kangaroo Island to the south by Investigator Strait. The most populous town in the region is Kadina.
